An interesting and effective way for young people to learn history,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: REVOLUTION IN RUSSIA (Young Indiana Jones Chronicles) (Mass Market Paperback)
This "choose your own adventure" book is significantly different from most of the other ones in that you can learn some history. Young Indiana Jones is a French agent stationed in Petrograd posing as an agricultural consultant during the time of the Russian revolution. The Czar has already abdicated and the provisional government is being buffeted by many forces, including the Bolsheviks. Indie's task is to infiltrate the young Bolshevik groups and learn if and when the Bolsheviks are going to attempt to seize power.
With the usual optional twists inherent in such books, the reader is accurately taken through a time of great historical change. By choosing the proper path, you can "listen" to a speech by Lenin, accompany a detachment of reactionary troops or be a part of a young Bolshevik protest march. This book is an interesting way to experience history.
