5.0 out of 5 stars Mad Catz PS2 Wireless Control Pad
This is a totally awsome controller! My friends and I used it for a number of hours after I bought it and we all agree it is the best controller we've ever used, particularly because it has no cord to get tangled up or pulled out. I get very animated when I'm into a game and having a cordless controller really helps. Also it's rechargable and you don't have to mess with...

This is a totally awsome controller! My friends and I used it for a number of hours after I bought it and we all agree it is the best controller we've ever used, particularly because it has no cord to get tangled up or pulled out. I get very animated when I'm into a game and having a cordless controller really helps. Also it's rechargable and you don't have to mess with batteries. It does take 10 hours to charge after being fully drained, so you'll want a spare ready if you play much longer than 5 hours. In my opinion it is better than any other wireless option for PS2, especially wireless kits that are inserted between a normal controller and the PS2 (very clumsy).
It is the most expensive controller available, but well worth it if it fits your budget.

I even called MadCatz they were very polite and professional though they did admit the Metal gear solid 2 was unplayable with them. We love to play Frequency and the controller delay makes the expert levels impossible to compensate for. MadCatz say they are working on the problems, apprently they forgot to test the controllers on more than one game. Until they can or will ever be able to fix these issues I am using the stadard controllers

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely nice to roam the game room!, January 1, 2002

Despite the price ..., we've been very happy with this remote controller. The battery charge has a good duration and being able to sit anywhere in the game room is great (e.g., next to the end table with a beer, on a stool in front of the TV, near the doorway while waiting for pizza delivery, etc). You generally don't need to point the controller at the console unless the battery charge is getting low. Although some folks mention a response lag, I haven't seen it. Availability seems to be the biggest issue -- we'd like to get another controller but they're sold out everywhere, seemingly. A wireless controller will be great for parties, too (no cables to trip on). The Mad Catz 900MHz controller does what it says it does, and we recommend it. Hopefully the price wil come down in the future...

1.0 out of 5 stars If you like lag then this is the controller for you., January 21, 2003

After trying the awesome Wavebird for the Nintendo Gamecube I wanted to go wireless on my PS2. I picked this controller up despite my previous dislike of Mad Catz products which I have found to be of generally low quality. Sad to say the pattern still holds true, this controller is not worth the money. I found it to be very laggy and it's failure left me in the lurch on such games like Two Towers or SSX Tricky thaqt require a lot of button pushing. I took it right back to the store. No More Mad Catz products for me. In the Words of Darth Vader, you have failed me for the last time.

4.0 out of 5 stars KEEP YOUR RECEIPT FOR RETURN!, January 18, 2003

I researched the wireless controllers for the PS2 and read all the feedback. I have owned Mad Catz controllers before and the durability and performance has always been extremely poor for the long run. After searching for wireless controllers in stores and online, I bought this controller (ignoring the negative feedback) because of the availability. I was thrilled for the first 45 hours of playing Kingdom Hearts. Moved to another game and played for another 20 some hours and then started noticing the camera kept moving to the left - then I realized the right joystick wasn't staying aligned - which makes it impossible to play games that require the right joystick for the camera view of the screen - I kept receipt so product is going back to the store. It also eats batteries like crazy! I made sure the controller was off when I wasn't playing or just taking a break but still changed the batteries after about 10 to 15 hours of play - if you do decide to try this controller - which I HIGHLY DISCOURAGE - you might want to look at rechargeable batteries.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not up to Specs, January 14, 2002

Save your money - I bought two of these over Christmas, and wound up returning them and getting 2 extension cables. They aren't up to the Sony DualShock 2 specs. Specifically, the level of sensitivity of the buttons is not the same - it does not register speed of trigger and speed of release properly.

On some games this is not a problem, but they render Metal Gear Solid II unplayable. (You can't shoot the gun 90% of the time!), and on games that require a constant signal, like Grand Theft Auto III, it will lose all control. It also randomly triggers pause mode in Half-Life. Arrrgh! It's a shame, too, because it feels much better in the hands than the generic PS2 DualShock2 controller.

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than the logitech, January 13, 2003
This review is from: RF 900MHZ Wireless Control Pad (Video Game)
I read the reviews here and some of them are spot on, the first one of these we got didn't work and we returned it for one that DID. Now I am quite happy, perhaps it's just luck, but the one I got is very good.

However at least one reviewer is recomending the logitech over this one. I tried to get the logitech and I got TWO IN A ROW that didn't work. Not only that, but they have poor build quality and the controls are horribly mushy. The Logitech is stupidly heavy (takes four batteries!!) and is built way too big, just holding it is uncomfortable.

The Mad Catz isn't perfect either, but it has a high standard of build quality, so if you get one that works (which you should) then hang onto it. It's a good controller with a good tactile response.

My husband and I just bought 2 of these controllers from Target 2 days ago. We also told the Target employee that they will see a ton more of these returned right after Christmas! We actually returned them today, and bought the Logitech wire less controllers (which are much nicer)!
Serious delays in movement. And sometimes you push the control pad or stick in one direction, and it goes in the opposite direction. Overall bad design. I can probably make a wireless controller that works better than this one.
Go for the logitech ones! It's the best I've seen so far.

3.0 out of 5 stars Average Controller, August 2, 2002
This review is from: RF 900MHZ Wireless Control Pad (Video Game)
I like the idea of wireless, but I've noticed some serious delays in response on certain games. If you need a controller for a game that requires quick action or accurate action, stick with one that connects to the system. This one is okay for other games.
