This review is from: RIKON 30-230 17-Inch Floor Drill Press (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've used this Rikon model for about three years now. It is a heavy duty machine, build solid. Unless they changed the design (and why would they?) there is a built-in light with a rocker on-off switch on the front of the head. The position of the light washes the entire drill table in strong light. The action is smooth as silk and the depth stop stays where you put it and is simple to adjust. There are enough speeds available by rearanging the pulley belts that there should be no job it can't handle. Adjusting the belts is easy because of the amount of slack the motor release gives you.
One thing I recommend. Since this is a serious manchine, it won't chuck a really small drill bit. That's normal in larger drill presses. The chuck on this drill looks like it weighs 20 pounds and I can't even get my hand completely around it. To remedy the small drill bit issue, pick up a portable chuck from Miluakee Tools or DeWalt. Then you just put the smaller chuck into the bigger chuck and the chuck all the small bits you need. Amazon has them, they're under $30.
Excellent machine.
