Book Description

March 15, 2012
How can an elephant's predictability inform a multinational company?
What can a cheetah teach a business about speed?
ROAR: Strengthening business performance through speed, predictability, flexibility, and leverage uses the animal kingdom as a metaphor for increasing results, and features interviews with executives at U.S. Bank, Red Mango, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, the San Diego Zoo and others to explore what drives peak performance against the customer problem an organization has chosen to solve.
With this clever, thought-provoking business book by Chris LaVictoire Mahai, co-owner and managing partner at global strategy and operational change firm Aveus, the path to peak performance is as clear and impressive as an African night sky.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Chris Mahai is someone I have turned to for years, whenever I have a business question. For those of you not lucky enough to know her personally, ROAR offers a fun and engaging way of solving complex performance challenges." --Dan Buettner, New York Times bestselling author of Blue Zones and Thrive and National Geographic Fellow

"ROAR does an excellent job of making complex business models easy to understand and accessible. Through the skillful use of metaphors, Mahai breathes life into business concepts that tend to be very dry. I would recommend ROAR for any organization looking for innovative ways to engage in understanding and implementing best business practices." --John Foley, author of Balanced Brand

"Chris Mahai has a gift for framing a simple question and telling a compelling story that makes important ideas come to life in organizations. The outcome is powerful, enduring change that no business leader can afford to miss." --Dan McCarthy, Partner at DeSilva & Phillips and former CEO, Network Communications, Inc.

Chris Mahai has written a book that draws people in with great stories, great analogies, and great questions. I can see it being used to start conversations within teams and encourage executives to step back and think of their businesses within the frameworks she presents. --Cameron Hay, Executive in Residence at Communitech and former CEO, Unitron Hearing

"Chris Mahai has a gift for framing a simple question and telling a compelling story that makes important ideas come to life in organizations. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Any Size Business April 9, 2012
Format:Hardcover
I enjoyed it. It was fun to read. ROAR is a good overview of how to think about the key aspects that drive a business in a refreshing, easy to follow context. The business interviews are insightful real-world examples. It left me thinking about my business and considering what we could do differently. Importantly, whether you are running a Fortune 500 business or a start-up, the insights are relevant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth the read...and the thinking! March 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Chris' book is a fun and easy read...that took me several sittings to get through because, as she says in the introduction, "it has more questions than answers"! With each chapter, I found myself stopping to think about how the concepts and questions she poses apply to my business and those of my executive coaching clients. As I read and thought, I felt like I was having a conversation with Chris, with her guiding me through an exploration of the opportunities in my performance chain. Get ROAR on your ipad or Kindle. Each chapter is perfect to read on an airplane flight, where you have time to enjoy and appreciate the examples (and gorgeous photographs!) in the book AND put some focussed attention on your business.

5.0 out of 5 stars A simple approach to complex business problems March 16, 2013
By Sheba
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
The straightforward approach the author uses in this book makes it so easy to understand. Taking business problems and relating them in a way that makes them simple and easy to implement is not frequently found in today's business books. I highly recommend this to any business leader looking for a strategy for success.
