5.0 out of 5 stars A great early performance from The Police!, April 10, 2003

This review is from: ROCK MASTERS:THE POLICE (DVD)
This is a fantastic early live show from one of the best live acts ever, and it's obvious that the bands chemistry was there early on. The boys sound great! The only negative is the short set list.(At this point,The Police had only released one album.) One point of interest here, is that the band plays "Message In A Bottle" for the 1st time ever in public. Sting calls it "A sort of babtism". Picture and sound quality are top notch. If you are any kind of Police or Sting Fan, you'll want to pick this one up as soon as it becomes available. I was lucky enough to get a hold of the Japanese version, which has already been released. Enjoy the show!

1.0 out of 5 stars Studio says "no plans", June 7, 2005
By
Music DVD fan (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: ROCK MASTERS:THE POLICE (DVD)
The reviews below are for the VHS edition. Regarding the DVD, here's a recent e-mail exchange I had with Image Entertainment:

MY MESSAGE:
Many on-line DVD vendors (including Amazon) have been listing a series called "Rock Masters" from your studio for some time now, with confusing information as to release dates. Some of the titles include The Cure, AC/DC, and The Police, and the listings include such details as the song titles. Can you confirm that you have plans to release these DVDs in the future, or can you provide any information at all about these releases?

THEIR RESPONSE:
Thank you for your inquiry. At this point in time Image Entertainment does not have any plans regarding the release of any titles from the "Rock Masters" series on DVD. However, I will pass your email onto our acquisitions department which will look into the possibility of releasing these titles on DVD at some point in the future.

Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic raw energy, October 16, 2006
This review is from: ROCK MASTERS:THE POLICE (DVD)
I remember watching this on the local public broadcast station on a Saturday night way back when. I was quite young and thought to myself "Who are these guys? I love it!" After that I was a Police freak for life. I knew a guy who ran a music store and he got me a VHS copy when that format first emerged. I still have that original tape. This show was The Police how I always like to remember them - raw, full of fire and power - pre-Every Breath You Take if you will. They had a musical prowess that very few bands can match even today. I loved when the guys would break the song down and improvise an extended passage. They were the masters at this. Another key factor in my admiration was the simple truth that their music could not be defined or labeled. They pulled so many influences from so many different musical styles and created a sound that was completely and totally unique. I hope all the legal wrangling can be resolved at some point so this fantastic show can be released on DVD.
