Book Description

January 1, 1900
From one of today's hottest stand-up comics--heir to Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy, and known for his Emmy award-winning HBO comedy specials and "The Chris Rock Show"--comes this edgy, no-holds-barred book. Here, Chris Rock confronts all the hot-button issues, such as finding a black leader, addiction to bubble wrap, why white folks can't say the N-word, the dirty socks rule, marriage, Bill Clinton, sexual harassment, and more.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Rock This reads like a collection of Chris Rock's routines, and that's the book's only flaw. A little more of Rock himself would be nice--maybe something that's a cross between an autobiography and Rock's routine transcribed for print. That said, Rock This is a very funny book. The young comedian speaks his mind about a variety of topics: race, sex, drugs, O. J. Simpson, and relationships between men and women. Occasionally profane and wrong-headed, most of the time Rock's wry observations--his assessments of the Reverend Al Sharpton and the Reverend Jesse Jackson are dead-on--make you nod your head in acknowledgment of their truth, even as you shake with laughter. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

... somehow this equal-opportunity offender manages to come off as a nice young man you'd be proud to introduce to your parents, riff though he might on how sexy Aunt Jemima could be in a pinch... --Entertainment Weekly --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Fun Fun Till Your Mack Daddy Takes Your Crack Pipe Away, October 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: ROCK THIS! (Mass Market Paperback)
Hi. Sure some of this material is recycled...it's still funny...

Nothing is taboo...All sacred cows are sent to the Burger King.

Rightly so, Chris skewers everything and everyone.

Race, religion, sex, and women...

Clinton, politics, talk shows, r & b, and hip-hop till you don't stop...

He'll make you recognize the truths in everyday life.

He'll make you laugh at the absurdity of it all.

He'll make you cry over the state of the world today.

He wants to awaken our senses to what's goin on...to quote the great Marvin Gaye.

He wants to educate and enlighten.

He's even cool enough to mention that a white man helped him with the creation of this book.

He wants us to love one another.

God Bless. Peace

3.0 out of 5 stars Funny, but......, July 10, 2000
This review is from: ROCK THIS! (Mass Market Paperback)
When I purchased this book, I thought that it would be somewhat of a window into the life on Chris Rock and his comedy. When I read it, I realized that it is specifically his written work...word for word. If you have seen or heard his shows already, I do not suggest purchasing this book, for you will receive a repeat.

I don't normaly read this kind of books but Chris Rock has changed all that. This is the most Hilarious book I have every read.I never seen Chris on stage but if he can write like this I am sure he is Hilarious his stage as well. I have read the whole book in one go without puting it down, believe me it was that funny.
