Fun Fun Fun Till Your Mack Daddy Takes Your Crack Pipe Away,
By A Customer
This review is from: ROCK THIS! (Mass Market Paperback)
Hi. Sure some of this material is recycled...it's still funny...Nothing is taboo...All sacred cows are sent to the Burger King. Rightly so, Chris skewers everything and everyone. Race, religion, sex, and women... Clinton, politics, talk shows, r & b, and hip-hop till you don't stop... He'll make you recognize the truths in everyday life. He'll make you laugh at the absurdity of it all. He'll make you cry over the state of the world today. He wants to awaken our senses to what's goin on...to quote the great Marvin Gaye. He wants to educate and enlighten. He's even cool enough to mention that a white man helped him with the creation of this book. He wants us to love one another. God Bless. Peace

Funny, but......,
This review is from: ROCK THIS! (Mass Market Paperback)
When I purchased this book, I thought that it would be somewhat of a window into the life on Chris Rock and his comedy. When I read it, I realized that it is specifically his written work...word for word. If you have seen or heard his shows already, I do not suggest purchasing this book, for you will receive a repeat.

Move over Shakespeare!,
This review is from: Rock This! (Paperback)
Well- I just finished reading "Rock This!". Chris Rock is one of the funniest people to have ever come off of "Saturday Night Live"- and this book proves it. Rock talks about every single topic imaginable in this book: sex, blacks, whites, gays, political figures, his childhood, his friends, drugs, life in the ghetto, and of course Aunt Tom! This book will keep you laughing all night long! Buy it today.

Chris Rock book is hilarious. It is filled with things that teenagers can relate to. There are lots of things in this book that will have you bust out in laugher. Chris Rock includes in his book about why white people can't use the N word. This book has everthing the good old days, O.J, Clinton, and the problem with living in the ghetto. I would recommend this book to any one who loves to read comedy. I read a few pages to my friends and they went out and bought a copy for them selves. This book is perfect to read on a plane, bus, on when you have free time. And if you dont have the book yet I suggest you go out and buy it now.

One Funny Book!,

This review is from: ROCK THIS! (Mass Market Paperback)
Known for his hilarious, controversial standup comedy, Saturday Night Live alum and major Hollywood star Chris Rock takes his hard-core comedy to the pages of this hysterical, no-holds barred book. In "Rock This," Rock writes about many things that modern society has to face or experienced, including the question of whether to allow gays in the military, Bill Clinton's sexual scandals, and OJ Simpson (in the case of the latter, Rock goes off on Simpson and his obvious guilt in the murder of his ex-wife, which is a change in the overall opinion most African-Americans have on that controversial case). Using incredible wit, sarcasm, and hilarious imagery, "Rock This" won me over instantly. This is the first humor book since Howard Stern's "Private Parts" that captured my attention all the way, and just like Stern, Rock shows that he doesn't really care how people react when speaking his mind or just poking fun of stereotypes. As one of only a handful of Saturday Night Live alums to actually have written a book (others include Steve Martin and Julia Sweeney), Rock definitely captivates his reading audience by just being his crazy, funny, and wild self. In the same tradition as his award-winning HBO series, "The Chris Rock Show," (also available on Amazon for purchase) Rock shows that he truly has inherited the throne as the King of African-American Comedy that Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy once held.

I've been a big fan of Chris Rock's stand-up for years now and it was interesting to see him writing a book. He really describes his own life and contemporary issues like race in a humourus and intelligent book. It's definetely worth reading if you like his stand up material.

THIS IS NOT AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY. At first I was really dissapointed, however, soon after I discovered that this is more like a script of all his work, I enjoyed the book. Most of the jokes in here have been used on his stand-up shows. So if you're a huge "I've seen all his work" Chris Rock fan, than probably you won't find anything new here. If you just watched him on TV for the first time or you saw the hype all over the media, and you'd like to see more, then by all means, buy this book. I did, and I laughed my butt off.His comedy makes fun of everything. Every kind of stereotype imaginable is insulted here. So if you don't dig this kind of stuff, then don't even go pass the first page.

The funniest thing I've ever read in less than 8 hours!,
By
This review is from: ROCK THIS! (Mass Market Paperback)
My God this book is hysterical!! Bits and pieces of the HBO special "Bigger and Blacker" are taken from this book. Even the introduction where Chris thanks his co-author is laugh out loud funny. I read the book in one shot - less than 8 hours. I could not put it down. My poor husband was trying to sleep and every couple paragraphs I was busting out laughing -- waking him up to read a passage or two. This is a fabulous book and Chris Rock is an amazing talent who has a real grip on life & times and society at large.
