When I reviewed Nintendo's Pinball game for the NES, I stated that it's hard to decide whether or not it's actually worth paying for it knowing that it's just one table and that table does nothing to stand out from other games in the genre. Add in four layers and a rockin' soundtrack, though, and you've found yourself with Rollerball, HAL's 1988 entry into the mix!

The pinball action is, well, divided up and the ball starts tumbling down at the very top. Or close, anyway, as there's a special section all the way above that becomes very rewarding when actually making it up there (Not to mention, it's a blast scoring points especially there). That's not to say the other layers don't provide something, too. The layer you start out on features a slot machine, and below that, the remaining layers mainly shine in what objects they possess. There's a lot more to this game than Nintendo's initial title for sure!

It leaves a bad taste in your mouth, the platforming levels are ok, and the pinball levels are bad.
