This review is from: THE ROLLING STONES VOLUME 66 BK/CD (Hal Leonard Guitar Play-Along) (Paperback)
I'm a big fan of the Hal Leonard Play-Along series. I own about 30 different volumes from this series. I recently added this one and heartily recommend it to anyone wanting some cools songs to jam with.
For those unfamiliar with the HL Play-Along books, they provide detailed tabs with notes and chords. They usually provide the notes for the most prominent guitar heard in the song. For many songs the lead guitar parts are tabbed out too. The accompanying CD includes two versions of each song. One is a complete demo with all instruments including the guitar parts outlined in the book, and the other version is "play-along" with drums, bass, keyboards that you can play on top of.

Love the Slowdowner software!,
By LA Woman "LA Woman" (Los Angeles) - See all my reviews
This review is from: THE ROLLING STONES VOLUME 66 BK/CD (Hal Leonard Guitar Play-Along) (Paperback)
One of the main reasons why I love this book ( and others by Hal Leonard Guitar Play-Along) is because it comes with this awesome software on the CD Rom that you can download a trial version of and use with the songs on the CD.
"Amazing Slow Downer" allows you to do just that - slow down the songs without effecting the pitch of the song! You can also loop sections of the song so you can listen to them over and over again and play along until you get them down. It's awesome for someone like me who's just starting to get a grip on playing the guitar and learning Tab/notation. Being able to slow down the songs and really hear what's being played and then play along with it at your own pace is an awesome way to help you develop your guitar playing skills! I would highly recommend all the Hal Leonard Guitar Play-Along books. I have The Rolling Stones and the David Lee Roth ones and I plan on purchasing more. You can also go to the developer website ([...]) and purchase the Full version of "Amazing Slow Downer" which enables you to use ANY MP3 song you have on your computer. What a world of options this software opens up for someone like me who's a little methodical when it comes to learning and needs to be able to slow things down and analyze them and learn at my own pace! The options are endless and these books are awesome! |
