My cat was diagnosed with renal failure about six months ago. The problem is that she disliked the low protein diets so much that she was starving herself rather than eat the stuff.
I found that she would grudgingly accept Hi-Tor Neo, but she was still losing weight on that. I was getting desperate to find something that she would accept so I started just buying different brands of renal diet foods for her to try.
She loves this stuff! In the past six weeks she has regained nearly 25% of her body weight (1.5 lbs). She is calmer, her nausea has gone away and her urine protein levels are lower.
The only downside of this product is the smell of her litter box. Something I'll have to put up with..

Bought this to replace Prescription Diet Feline K/D that my one of my cats had to eat after a renal dysfunction diagnosis. He ate it but din't particularly loved it. He clearly prefers Royal Canin over PD. Maybe it's the softer texture (not much teeth left, bad dentition case). Even the other cats prefer this food to theirs (so I guess the taste is better too). I have to supervise the meal times now. And about the efficiency of the food (mixed with K/D caned food and renal powder): my 14 year old big lazy cat is like almost a kitty again. He runs all around, he regain his personality, he plays and purrs all the time.

This is some of the lowest protein dry food available for kitties with CRF.

I used this flavor as well as the pork flavor for my feral queen whose kidneys failed. Like the Hill's k/D and Purina N/F, this does not have meat as the first or second ingredient. It's lower protein than the Royal Canin pork flavor, too. But, unlike the k/d and n/f, my cat would eat this stuff. And it didn't seem to make her sick.

Word to the wise: if you're feeding dry food to a CRF kitty, make sure she has lots and lots and lots of fresh clean water available. I know you're always having to balance what's the better food versus what she will eat at all - otherwise she starts having liver problems as well as the CRF, so this is maybe a good food to keep available, since it seems to be among the most palatable and least harmful.

You can buy it on Amazon without a prescription, but most vets will write you one (I've heard stories of vets refusing to write for any brands except the ones they personally carry -> this is a red flag for you and your kitty).

I guess my cat is the judge here and she likes it over all the other dry renal foods. She's a picky eater too since she got renal failure. She also likes the Royal Canin canned morsels, the 2.5 oz can.

My cat has renal failure so I bought this dry food for her. Luckily she is eating it. My other cats will eat it too, although they don't have kidney problems (and, therefore, don't need it).

Arrived on time as expected. Was worried if my cat would like this food but she absolutely loves it. I would order it again.

my cat loved it, and he is fussy. He will be 19 in May so I want to keep him eating as long as I can.

So far he eats it.

Picky little guy is super old at 19, so he won't eat much.

I free feed him this, and give him canned foods twice a day. His BUN levels are a bit better, which is more than I could have hoped for this far along in his CKD.
