Our local Thrift Store, 3 1/2 years old, supports a local homeless shelter. We have 80 volunteers who provide all the labor. There are no paid employees. We purchased a less expensive Royal Cash Register (425CX) when we started business and it has served us very well, with many different volunteers using the machine six days per week. We wore out the machine but liked the way it functioned and decided to replace it with a better Royal model that uses a treated paper sales receipt that is fast and efficient. Our group loves the new machine and the price was right, no shipping charges, etc. Our accountant tells us that the sales accounting features are excellent and that he has not found any computation errors, etc.

I've had this register for just over 3 years and it just froze up yesterday. I'm assuming it had something to do with me replacing the batteries but I can't be sure. It worked really well for the first 2 years, then the power went out and the backup batteries only store the information for about an hour or so then it dumped ALL my data. So, back to square one... had to re-program it all over again, quite the hassle. I'm now going to purchase a register that has some sort of backup system that does not require batteries. Oh, and this register is super loud... when I was ringing stuff up, I couldn't hear my customers talk to me! I'll be sure to rate the next register I buy!

I've always been loyal to Royal. Not so much anymore. Annoying memory function renders the machine useless after a couple of days until you clear memory by elaborate code or print out all transactions on expensive thermal register tape. Cash draw difficult to remove/reinsert. Missing a foot pad. Given cost of thermal paper, I'd probably be better throwing this baby out and getting a used Royal.

If you're not a rocket scientist, DO NOT buy this cash register. The Sharp version is easier to program.

Not user friendly. Our previous sharp cash registers were not as complicated as this one. Everyday we have an alert problem with it's codes.
We really should have stood with Sharp registers.

this cash register is excellent ,they last for a long time. still using the first one i purchase 7 years ago.

Have used this register for 2 months now and have had no problems. Would recommend this for any small business. It has all the features we need plus many more that we may use later.

This is a quality cash register for use by our small retail establishment. The availability of three tax brackets is needed here in Charlotte. My only wish is that it would produce a hard copy of the register tape for later review. We do not have the capability to link the register to our small computer.

it really works, is easy to use very friendly to learn and the most important things are all the functions and options you can get.

I have ordered Royal registers for our Thrift Store before and have enjoyed their durability. However, I took this one out of the box and plugged it in to find that it didn't work at all. Very disappointing.
