5.0 out of 5 stars Here Are The Correct Drivers
Please forgive the vendors as most of them do not package the items, the CD's are useless, however the hardware is not. The build quality may be cheap, but he PL2303 chip-set inside is one of the best USB-Serial Chip-sets around.

Windows 98/ME, 2000/XP/Server2003 (x86 & x64), Vista/7/Server2008 (x86 & x64):

1.0 out of 5 stars Failure
Many of these Chinese USB-Serial converters do not provide full serial port device functionality. This is one of them. Do not waste your money on this product. In my case it would not work with the MyHd serial IR Receiver.

Who knows, this is probably a fine product, but the drivers do not work with Windows Vista. At least I couldn't get them working.

I needed this to connect a PWS to my PC, and I could never get it to work. I was running Vista Ultimate. I am not a tech geek nor am I a slouch. I know what I am doing. I would just look elsewhere or get confirmation there are Vista drivers.

I tried getting this to work with my vista laptop, no go! Then I tried with windows XP, no go! Now its uselessly laying around in one of my cabinets. The drivers provided were very outdated and I could not find any good drivers any where else. Useless, not worth getting, I will consider changing this review if the Person who sold this to me comes up with some good drivers. The reason why I know its not my hardware that is not working is because I tried a different Serial to USB cable and it works just fine. If someone knows where I can get drivers then please let me know...

Hello,

I got this cheap adapter to connect my MacBookPro to some serial hardware i have
lying around. i haven't jet tested it in my MacBookPro, but i have had success running this
on Linux. The used Chip set pl2303 is recognized immediately and i found a OS X driver by the chip set
vendor (Polific).
I am not a Windows user since a few years, but hearing all the trouble you are going through with this
adapter, you might want to try to get the vendor drivers from there website:

might do the trick for you.
good luck!

Worthless,

No directions for setup of driver. Very difficult to get the driver configured. Driver not compatable with Vista or W7. Error message trying to use this with software. Not sure if it works on XP or older OS.

I had this working under Windows XP, but I can't find drivers that work under Windows 7. Now I guess I throw it away and buy a cable from a reputable company.

I tried multiple drivers and programs trying to get this to work with my Cisco routers all to no avail. After fighting with this cable for over a week I ended up getting a keyspan that has worked from day one. I don't know about the compatibility with other equipment but if you plan to use this to connect to a router don't bother, get a keyspan instead.
