Say goodbye to tearing, stinging, irritated eyes when chopping, mincing, dicing and slicing onions and their relatives¿leeks, scallions and chives. Wearing the stylish and comfortable Onion Goggles will protect the eyes from irritating onion vapors. The soft foam seal keeps out the nasty onion vapors. When onions are cut, an enzyme called sulfoxide lyase and sulfuric compounds are released from the broken cells. When exposed to air, they react with one another to form a vapor. As this vapor evaporates, it irritates our eyes and causes us to cry. Kitchen folklore remedies such as burning candles or matches, slicing onions under water and freezing the onions before cutting are not effective.

These goggles really work.....I put them on then chop onions...no tears! And, they actually improve my vision a little, so I would highly recommend to people sensitive to onions.

Well, I used to look absolutely ridiculous, and now I look slightly less ridiculous. A la "Diva," an '80s French cult film with a guy who chopped onions wearing a mask and snorkel, I used to tromp into the kitchen with mine because my eyes bothered me so much when I'd chop onions. Enter the Onion Goggles! And yes, they really DO work. You do NOT have to have your nose covered, as I'd once believed. So far I've bought a pair for my son, myself, my brother, and a friend. The only downside is that they don't fit over eyeglasses, but since I'm not terribly farsighted this isn't a problem for me. If your eyes are sensitive to onion fumes, try these. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I bought these to watch TV. My ceiling fan dries my eyes out really badly and with summer coming, I was looking for a solution. I found these and thought that if they keep onion gas out, they should keep the fan air away. They work well for this and I could see how they would be great for the intended purpose.

My one problem is that if you wear them for say over an hour or so, they get a little uncomfortable. Since they were never meant for this length of wear I cannot fault them for this, but I thought I would post it on the off chance that anyone else was thinking of using them for this. They are still handy and I would probably still have bought them.
