Second of all, it is important to not overfill the spoon with tea -- don't just jab it blindly into your tea canister open and pull it out closed. Squeeze open the spoon and use it to scoop out one side level, not heaping, with tea leaves. This is important because the leaves need room to expand once they're in hot water (if you have stuffed the infuser spoon with tea, the pressure of the expanding leaves will push open the spoon and release loose tea leaves into your cup). When you have a level spoonful on one side, you can release to close the spoon.
Third, once the spoon is closed, tap it gently on the edge of your tea canister to release loose leaves that are stuck between the spoon halves. This will also minimize the amount of leaves that escape into your brew. Because of the size of the holes in this spoon infuser, you will inevitably end up with some crumbs of tea leaves in your cup. If you will be annoyed by this, you should instead purchase a mesh infuser or tea pockets (disposable tea filter bags that you fill yourself).
I love making and drinking tea, and I find this infuser spoon to be more elegant than mesh tea balls, more practical than decorative tea balls, more eco-friendly than DIY teabags, and more convenient than brewing up an entire pot when I'm taking a tea break.

I've had this for several years now and it's holding up well. Not good for teas with fine particles but for larger loose leaves it works great.Published 1 month ago by Margaret

Very cheep quality metal and a very weak spring. It wouldn't close all the way and I had to constantly push the two sides together so leafs wouldn't come out. Read morePublished 7 months ago by Amazon Customer
There is nothing wrong with this. In fact I searched high and low for a tea holder just like this but once I bought it I realized that once it is in the cup I couldn't entirely... Read morePublished 7 months ago by Deneen Morrison Bey
