Very effective alternative to sachets and tea bags,

I bought this tea infuser because my wife and I love Harneys tea and like to use the loose tea because it is more cost effective. We had been using an infuser that is "spoon" shaped. The spoon shaped infuser worked very poorly because the water could not effectively get to the tea. This infuser works excellent. The mesh is about the size of a golf ball and is very effective at allowing the water to freely travel to the tea. It also seals very tight which prevents any tea from falling into the water. The only drawback is that the infuser needs to be rinsed out right after it is used because if the tea is allowed to dry in the ball then the mesh is harder to clean. This is not a problem as long as you remember to rinse out the infuser before the tea has dried.

This nifty tea steeper is fantastic! It's mesh stainless allows the user to use even the finest loose teas without making a mess. I'm impressed!

I think once you consider the low price, this is five stars based on the value. Makes it very easy to enjoy loose leaf teas without the hassle. The trick is to use it like a scoop/spoon and make sure no bits of tea leaves are left on the surfaces that end up clamping together when they close. Otherwise, the thing doesn't seal all the way, and lots of bits of tea leak out. But as long as you make sure it closes right, this thing is great. You sometimes still get a little bit of leakage through the mesh with finer teas, but not enough to really be bothersome.

Not good for finely ground teas,

I ordered this mainly to use with the pound of rooibos tea I had bought from Amazon. Unfortunately, the rooibos tea is so finely ground that it goes right through the mesh on this infuser. This infuser would be fine with most teas, but beware for use with finely ground teas like rooibos.

Broke after a week,

After using it for about a week, it broke and one of the pieces fell off. I had been concerned when I ordered it, based upon other reviews, and saw that it was indeed kind of flimsy feeling when I received it. Still, I figured for three bucks I'd take a chance. #fail

1.5 inch diameter, but enough for office,

No one seems to have mentioned the size of the infuser. It has 1.5 inch diameter and looks small. I thought it would be too small for oolong because oolong tea would expand a lot from small balls to full leaves and the small infuser would limit the expansion. This is probably true for family use. But for my office use, I fill 1/3 of the infuser with about 20 oolong tea balls and make 2-3 cups. I tried to release the tea leaves in the third cup, and the result was the same as letting the tea stay inside the infuser. So this seemingly small infuser is enough for my personal use. Beyond the third cup, it will taste watery anyway.

must have,
This review is from: RSVP Standard Tea Infuser Mesh Spoon, 6.25" Long
I make a lot of my own teas and this is by far the best type of tea infuser. It is so much easier to fill, stays closed, and doesn't make a mess. Plus I like to hang it to dry by the little loop in the handle. Its easy enough for my 3yr old to use and has lasted for years. Must have to make tea!

I ordered two of these and one of them broke with the first use. I contacted the seller through Amazon and they never contacted me. Bad, flimsy product and no customer support. Don't waste your money.

This is a nice concept, but not executed very well. It does not seal properly, and allows tea leaves to escape virtually every time. Spend an extra dollar and get this model: Norpro Grip-EZ Tea Infuser with Cup
