I have had many routers in the past, tested even more, and hands down this is so far THE BEST router!!!

If you follow very simple instructions on how to set it up, if you READ quick start guide, you should not be unhappy with the results. This router is to this date the best you can get on the market. AC routers are coming slowly but surely BUT there are no compatible devices that each household has in common. Even iPhone 5 has no 802.11AC standard supported (having in mind that Apple so far was pretty up to date when it came to supporting upcoming standards and tehnologies). I was on my way to local store to purchase AC version for $200 price, and bet my money on this 802.11N router for my 50MBps cable internet. I wanted no loss in speed wirelessly... and I got it...

I have 50MBPs cable internet subscription, on the wire I have tested speed to deliver constant 57-58MBps, where wireless devices like my laptop (has n standard supporting wireless card), delivers pretty much exact the same number - 57-58MBps, with up to 30ft away (on 2.4GHz). My iPad 2 gets about 42-43MBps, and my iPhone 5 gets about 45-48$ (distance from router on iOS is from 10 to 35ft).

I just have to add this :) .... When it comes to the Customer Service, I would prefer if users did not grade unit LOW because they could not get the tech support on the phone. Honestly, in terms of resolving issues I personally would recommend searching forums because you WILL get more skilled, more correct, and much faster ANSWER to your questions about features, issues, etc. Therefore, grading a unit with the low score because someone did not pick-up when you wanted them to pick-up is simply UNFAIR!

This router is easily the best out of them all in every way. The performance is unrivaled and the features are unbeatable, which is consistent with ASUS quality and innovation. If you want the best router for connectivity, speed, wireless range, and simplicity, this is it. Also, I have been an ASUS fan for a long time now and that is because they just always seem to go above and beyond my expectations and I know in the event that I do have a problem (which has yet to occur with any of their products, and I have owned this router for a little over a year I believe) I know they will promptly handle it for me. Aside from a firmware update you never have to restart or reset this router! Do yourself a favor and get one. It may be more than you were planning on spending but for the flawless operation which will not just work without issues in most cases for a few years, but it will continue to deliever above and beyond performance for the products lifetime.

Customer support is terrible. I was on hold over an hour and a half and just gave up. I did send and email and we will see what happens. I purchased this router because of all the great comments. My problem is that I have ATT Uverse with internet only but with phone service through broad voice . My modem/router is a 2wire3801hgv. The router on this device has a hard time supporting all my devices so AT&T suggested I hard wire the ASUS router to run my devices and keep the 2wire to run our security cameras so that I would not have to reconfigure those all over again with port forwarding etc.. I would be running 2 wireless signals simultaneously . Unfortunately, I am not experienced enough to set this up without help and I cant find any set instructions through their website or anything on Google. Any advice would be appreciated and I'm sure when this is up and running it will be awesome!

I was trying to get a little extra range over my N600, so I bought this router. It's okay. Not a bad router, but not worth the money either. I see no difference between this router and an $80 N600 in terms of range and performance. Several of the "features" like beaming technology, did absolutely nothing at all, no matter how I adjusted the antennas. I can get the exact same real life range and performance from several other routers. The FCC limits what power routers can transmit, and most of them are running at that max level already including this one. Don't expect it to really be more powerful than any other newer router in terms of range and performance. In my experience if it is, it isn't noticeable at all over a $80 router. Basically it seems I was paying a $60 marketing hype fee for things that in no way affected real life performance.

Example:

5 star review below claims: " 57-58MBps, with up to 30ft away (on 2.4GHz). My iPad 2 gets about 42-43MBps, and my iPhone 5 gets about 45-48$ (distance from router on iOS is from 10 to 35ft)."

My older $70 N600 router can do that consistently on my 50Mbps connection through walls. Nothing special about this router. The N600 actually performed better for me in that test. Like I said, not bad, its a good router, nothing wrong with it, I just found it overpriced considering real life performance is equal to a router about half the price.
