5.0 out of 5 stars Aweson product
Had one for almost a month now. it runs perfect on my Win XP machine. call is clear, response if fast. it even displays that you have voice mail and in-coming chat.
It worth every cent.
My mother and mother-in-law all want one now.

I have had this phone for over two months. It is a pretty good phone. At times there is some echo and delay when I call other landlines in the US. It is less noticeable than when I use a headset through the computer.

One problem that I have with this phone is a software glitch. If my computer is shutdown and dualphone or skype is updating software, it doesn't let me know, so it messes up the phone. To be recalibrated, the phone's battery has to be taken out and then I need to hold the number 3 for one minute. If the phone still does not work, it needs to be totally unplugged from everything and battery out for six hours to reset the phone. That has happened to me 4-5 times already.

I like how I can call landlines through skype on the phone as well as on the computer. The buttons on the phone are harder to push. You have to make sure that you pushed the button just right so as not to misdial a phone number.

The range of the phone goes throughout my house fine. People I talk to say they can hear me just fine. Some delay sometimes, but usally pretty well.

We bought this phone about a year ago and everything worked pretty smoothly for a little while, but after a couple of months the LCD started not displaying everything (within the year the LCD screen has become only about 15-20% visible). Another problem that just started happening a few weeks ago is that the speaker on the phone has stopped working multiple times, and it has required us to take out the battery, wait a few minutes, and then put the batteries back in before the speaker will start working for another day or two. I got so tired of missing my SkypeIn calls (because I couldn't hear anyone on the other end) that I have now purchased the Philips VOIP841 (just installed it today). It sucks to have to buy a new dual mode phone so soon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very user-friendly, but buggy and no longer supported, July 10, 2007
This review is from: RTX USB Cordless DUALphone RTX3055 - silver (Office Product)
[...].

After buying my first DUALphone in December of 2005, I liked it enough to buy two more almost immediately for friends and family. The phone is very easy to use -- you simply plug it in to the USB port of your computer, make sure Skype's running, and that's it. As its name also implies, you can plug a regular telephone line into it and make calls that way. You can actually do both at once, and choose when to use Skype vs. your phone line very easily.

Now for the drawbacks. For one, every time somebody on my Skype buddy list changes their status, the phone beeps and flashes a message on its display screen -- AND THEN HANGS UP THE ACTIVE PHONE CALL. :( Also, occasionally my cheekbone will hit one of the buttons near the top of the keypad, which will mute the conversation. I can never figure out how to un-do that, and thus have to hang up the phone call. Another problem is that my phone will always hang up after exactly 2 hours and 2 minutes of call time. Also, the phone does get rather hot after an hour or more of use, but this is also true for most cellphones. Finally, it seems as though the manufacturer of this phone has stopped supporting it, as of some time in 2007?

In summary, this is a great phone; it's very easy to use, you simply plug it in and it works. However, the firmware bugs, somewhat strange keypad layout bugs, and termination of support by the manufacturer means I can't recommend it as highly as I would like to. I will be shopping for another Skype-compatible phone soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Product for the Skype-User., April 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: RTX USB Cordless DUALphone RTX3055 - silver (Office Product)
I use Skype 5 or more times daily to maintain mostly International business contacts throughout the U.S., Mexico and Spanish-Speaking Latin America, plus Bangalore India. Early-on I could easily miss in-coming calls when I was away from my PC or Laptop. But now with Dualphone, I am no-longer chained to my computer, and can answer Skype-calls wherever I might be in my home or office, as long as I have my cord-less handset with me. Because this is a dualphone, I can answer or make VOIP or regular landline connections without changing location. The sound-quality is outstanding with both landline or VOIP calls. Shortly, I will be ordering a second cord-less handset for even greater flexibility.

Most of the business contacts that I have are also Skype users, and this makes it a wonderful experience in that these are FREE calls no matter how long they last. Next month, I will be making a business trip to Mexico to establish a formal business structure with partners in Cancun, Guadalajara, and Merida. I intend to urge the partners to acqure Dualphones to take advantage of the features and benefits that I have received since acquiring one over a month ago. When I first received the unit, I did require some Technical assistance from the RTX company in Denmark. This company is very prompt and precise with answers via the Internet. In summary: Dualphone is a great product from a great compay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Skype Phone, January 24, 2009
This review is from: RTX USB Cordless DUALphone RTX3055 - silver (Office Product)
I have used this for over 12 months using my office computer, I have 2 CIT200's at home, this phone was used very little mainly to call my Mother in England from the Office.

I am now working from home using my office computer, and I use the phone every day to call clients all over the USA, I lik the way you can just dial the long distance number, no prefix and then just press the green pc button and I have not had any problems

The only note I say is that the newer cordless skype phones use the AAA batterys, I don't know if this battery goes that I can replace it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful... Except the LCD Readout, September 14, 2008
By
This review is from: RTX USB Cordless DUALphone RTX3055 - silver (Office Product)
Purchased this product when it first came out. The LCD panel began to fail shortly after purchase. Yet I like the phone so much I purchased several more after reports that the DUALPhone LCD panel had been replaced. Unfortunately, this is still a key failure point. I will replace this phone and toss it in the garbage.

2.0 out of 5 stars Half-baked, July 18, 2008
This review is from: RTX USB Cordless DUALphone RTX3055 - silver (Office Product)
I've used it for more than a year now with Skype. I have 2 handsets.
It was the first reasonably-priced phone of its type that I could afford. So I got it because there was nothing better...
The phone software improved a few times, but the phone continues to have problems. Sometimes turns off every few minutes during the call. The volume always has to be turned up. The battery life is very short, especially with a handset.
I use it as my primary home phone. So, it's never been as reliable for that as it should be. Don't invest in this half-baked product, if you can afford something better.
When I have the money, I will buy the Philips voip841. I just bought one for my Mom. It doesn't need to be connected to the PC to work, and works much better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lousy phone, October 20, 2007
By
RK (columbus, oh, usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: RTX USB Cordless DUALphone RTX3055 - silver (Office Product)
This is the worst phone we have ever owned. The phone is barely one-year old and has never functioned well. It routinely does not capture numbers that are pressed requiring us to dial and redial and redial... you get the point. Now, the screen is malfunctioning so we are unable to see the number we are attempting to dial and our caller id is service is now useless. Avoid this phone at all costs!!

Is anyone out there happy with a dual Skype/standard phone? We need a new one!
