4.0 out of 5 stars Supersoul Stylin'
RUOK- remixed, redefined, redone. If you like RUOK this is another great installment on the MBM catalog. If you have a surround sound system, look into the DVD as well. Music in a synthetic form never sounded so good. If you like the Manifesto and Mr. Dangers himself this disc is not to be overlooked.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Dub Heads
As a dub purist, I feel I should warn all dub-heads about this
CD. The front & back covers are very seductive for dub-heads, but be warned: there is no clue on the outside that this CD is
LOADED with vocals; and if you're a dub-purist, you probably
prefer your dub clean of vocals. Once you open the CD, 5 of 12 songs are actually labeled as having...

5.0 out of 5 stars mbm at its best, July 1, 2005

Like someone already said, I don't understand the "pure dub" (whatever that means) compliance requirements for an mbm album. This is sort of like complaining that Throbbing Gristle's "20 funk jazz greats" album is not jazzy or funky enough.
For some dub stuff i recommend Bill Laswell - he has 5-6 new albums every year and they all are guaranteed to sound the same.

This is one of my favorite MBM albums - along with subliminal sandwich. It took me a while to get into it though - I got it around christmas time and I didn't really play it that much until maybe a couple of months ago. Nowadays I spin thru it 3-4 times a week. It is bass- and rhythm-heavy (I guess that doesn;t necessarily say much since all mbm is)...it has the samples of Ukranian engineers talking about montages of sound objects (this actually carried over from r u ok), it has a jamaican-sounding dude similar to that on subliminal sandwich.

Anyway, it is a great album and I do recommend it to those who already own RUOK. It is the whole different deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars In Dub Iz DUBALICIOUS!, February 9, 2004

I have been listening to the sound of Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto) evolve over the course of many years now. To see his production skill and technique getting fine tuned and progressing to the point of proving he is not just a pioneer of the electronic breakbeat but a practicing teacher of professional magnitude in the field of frequency modulation. There is extremely valuable information in this music. With that said, here is my take on MBM's In Dub...

I must start out by addressing that In Dubs roots are tied to the previous album RUOK?. RUOK explored sub bass realms that only a quality home or car stereo with accurate bass response could realize with this albums sonic potential. I say that because once I heard RUOK on a good system you could really "feel" the difference and attention to detail in the music. 'In Dub' is an evolved logical progression of RUOK with even better production & tighter mixdown. This is true electronic dub that keeps the listener enveloped in an twilight zoned out transmission from space, beyond this time and place. Sonically amazing in it's multi layered audio array of carefully chosen sounds. The 5.1 surround DVD version takes the experience to another level placing the listener directly inside the heart beat of the music. The visuals by Ben Stokes will twist your perspective into viewing your situation from obscure angles triggering keys into subliminal locks to open new doors of perception. Definitely worth a whirl for every psyche like minded boy and girl !

5.0 out of 5 stars Jack is back, yet again., February 11, 2004
By

Jack Dangers is one of the few "industrial" (Read: EBM) pioneers who has managed to remain relavent today. While the current sound of Meat Beat Manifesto bears little-to-no resemblance to the sound of old (for that, do check out the recent Storm The Studio RMXS however), it is still recognizably a Jack Dangers production as familiar sounds and drops occur throughout. There are even a few political tracks and some speak-and-spell vocals to take one back to the days of Satyricon.

Vocals are probably the best addition to this release versus it's sibling RUOK. This "dub" version includes the toastings of one DJ Collage. His vocals are a great addition, but do not overbear by appearing on every track. Instead, he appears on just 6 tracks preventing his stay from being overdone. It helps to break up the CD and gives flow. On several of the tracks his toastings are further cut up and reworked to help fit within the track instead of simply layered on top.

This release is a worthwhile rendering of the Meat Beat Manifesto name. There is even a DVD version out featuring 5.1 sound (for those lucky enough to have such set ups), plus visuals by Ben Stokes of DHS that should be worth checking out as well.

Tra-la.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dubtastic beats, killer production...another MBM gem!, February 10, 2004

If you've heard the dub TinoCorp has been releasing, you know how killer these tracks must be! Heavy basslines with plenty of groove, some great toasting on a few of the tracks, and the production we've come to know and love from these guys!

The reinterpretations on this album make the originals into altogether different songs, expanding the already diverse scope of the recordings.

Jack Dangers is the master of the beat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Meat Beat Manifesto :: ..In Dub (Run Recordings), February 6, 2004

This review is from: RUOK in Dub (Audio CD)
Jack Dangers returns with a visit to the dub-space, a palace of infinite echo, rattling snare shots and nicely toasted vocals with the new In Dub. Featuring the toasting stylings of DJ Collage, the disk is an excellent translation of RUOK?'s minimalist soundscapes for the electro-breaks-ragga set.

Some of the tracks bear a resemblance to their RUOK? originals (like "Spinning Round Dub"), but the majority of the disc sounds new, with only a stray bassline or vocal sample to jog the memory. Without a copy of RUOK? available, the disc sounds almost entirely new and not like a gentle rehashing of previous material. Whereas Dangers has always recycled beats and bass before (the recycling logo being on the back cover of Satyricon, ahem), in the dub-space, they take on a new life, separate from what-has-come-before.

"Super Soul Dub" benefits from the recycling the most. A familiar sample from the previous album is re-contextualized here, added to a dub bassline that shakes the bins in a most righteous manner, and a cut-up toast from the toastmaster, DJ Collage.

There is also a surround-sound version of the album, released as a DVD with visuals from Ben Stokes. Both will be worth picking up. (Jerico Maxim, Igloo)

5.0 out of 5 stars simply the best, November 7, 2005
This review is from: RUOK in Dub (Audio CD)
I love this dvd, mostly because it mixes jacks wonderful music with a kind of etheral visual experience. It goes perfectly to
the music, provoking many new ideas for the viewer. I think if
you are into MBM and jacks own stuff, you'll understand this is necessary!

The new album by Meat Beat Manifesto, ...In Dub, is a groundbreaking work, featuring Jack Dangers taking his last album R.U.O.K.? and tweaking it Dub stylee. It's an amazing CD, and there is a version coming out featuring the full album mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound for DVD, with visual effects by Ben Stokes!

Another classic in the Meat Beat Manifesto arsenal! Buy this record! Booyakasha!

5.0 out of 5 stars So Dub Or What?, May 22, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: RUOK in Dub (Audio CD)
This album has gotten a lot of criticism for not abiding by the "rules" of dub. Well folks, if you want "real" dub, check out Twilight Dub Circus. For me, this album works. It makes me feel happy-- it amuses me-- from the rhythmic vocal parts to the dub / electronic hybrid beats. Some pieces, certainly, are not as strong as others-- to me, "Supersoul Dub" seems a little single-minded, for example-- but others stand out nicely, such as both parts of "Retrograde Dub", a driving, rocking piece that rounds out the album nicely.
