I have ethnic hair, and it's also very sensitive as far as how it responds to the products I use. Therefore when I find something that works, I STICK WITH IT. Years ago (circa 2003), I started noticing that no matter what I did, after shampooing my hair it would be so tangly (when wet) that I'd end up with all sorts of knots in it. My hairstylist at the time recommended this stuff...I was hesitant at first, but one use and I was hooked!

I use it mostly as a leave-in and it makes my hair super-soft, making the comb glide right through it while it's wet (in preparation for blow-drying, where it comes out straight, soft, shiny, and healthy looking). If I ever hit a snag while combing -- such as where the conditioner might not have reached thoroughly the first time, I just rub a dime sized amount in and out the snag comes (without taking my hair with it). The versatility from the fact that you can leave it in or take it out is a plus as well. For me personally, the smell is one that took some getting used to... but I'm not completely turned off by it either (it's more a matter of personal preference).

The one thing I'm disappointed about, is that this product seems to have been discontinued and no longer available in salons or stores (Rusk claims they haven't discontinued it, but all of the salons I call and visit say otherwise...not sure what the real deal is there). In any case, I'm glad Amazon still has it... because I'll keep ordering it! Especially if you have ethnic hair or very curly hair that tangles easily when wet, Rusk Deep Shine Sea Kelp Conditioner is definitely for you. I've tried others (most recently Paul Mitchell's "The Detangler" -- which did nothing for me, as much as I was really hoping it would), but I keep going back to this one and it's literally the only one that works!

My sister is a hair dresser and she got me hooked on this years ago. Using it as a leave in is the best. Make my very long & thick color treated hair wonderful.

Perfect conditioner for dry, colored, or coarse hair if you want silky shine.

Nothing works on my hair like this product. The scent of the conditioner is definitely a lot like the scent of the sea itself, so you may love it (like I do), or hate it (sorry for you). :)

I really like the product. I'm not so sure it helps with shine but I really like how you can leave it in your hair or wash it out. My hair is normally dry so sometimes when it feels really dry I leave the conditioner in and don't wash it out. It makes my hair feel soft and it makes it look healthy too. I found this product line by total fluke while I was running erands last winter, and fell in love after the first use of them. I honestly wasn't expecting much from an impulse buy, but then again so many things labled as moisturizing and weightless, let alone replenishing or shine enhancing, reall do what they say they will. I am a believer now, and so is every single one of my friends that have tried it! Your hair will be shiny, but not sticky, and _totally_ frizz free! The fact that it smells so pure and naturally sensuous is definately a bonus! I always get asked what I use by other women, and men always tell me that I smell great (even when I don't wear perfume...none of my other bath/body products have a scent, so this is definately the source) most especially my husband!
