Info on Truck Stops, April 5, 2006
This review is from: The RVer's Friend, 2001: National Diesel and Parking Directory (Paperback)
The photo shows the 2006 directory, but the product info shows an earlier edition. Be sure to get the newest one.
To use this, check the map for the state, find your route, select the upcoming towns, then flip to the section listing the services for that town. I found this a bit difficult to do. Sometimes the map was not detailed enough and I couldn't tell which interstate a town was on when they crossed.
The information comes from The Trucker's Friend directory but it helps if you're looking for the truck stops for gas or repairs. Particularly for RVs, it tells if RVs are welcome at a truck stop, if there are dumping stations, if hook ups are nearby, and if you can get your propane filled.
It would help if the print were larger.
Other useful info includes if a Wal*Mart is nearby and the size of the truck stop (small, medium, large, X-large). Unfortunately it doesn't tell you if they have wi-fi.
In the back of the book is a list of state and national parks with campsites and electricity. It also lists rest areas on the interstate system with dump stations.
