Less than pleased,
This review is from: GPX Weather X RWB6806DT NOAA Weatherband, Digital Tune AM/FM/TV Radio, Built-In Flashlight with Recharge Circuit and Batteries (Electronics)
Although the radio still works, the searchlight illuminated only once, the first time I turned it on. It hasn't worked again since. The radio works while plugged in. Unplug it and come back in an hour and no more charge. I used the hand crank, I cranked that handle for well over a minute, when I pressed the on button the radio didn't work! This radio is worthless in an emergency. I give it one star because this radio does work while plugged in. Plus the dial is well lit illuminating the stations in blue light.

There has to be a better one out there....,
This review is from: GPX Weather X RWB6806DT NOAA Weatherband, Digital Tune AM/FM/TV Radio, Built-In Flashlight with Recharge Circuit and Batteries (Electronics)
It appears they have made some improvements over the previous reviews as mine has a place for optional batteries and a switch so I can use rechargeables or alkaline. However, internal NIMH still is lacking in capacity. Also there is a place on mine for an external power source.Instructions are a bit confusing. Says it comes with an internal NIMH battery and to charge it for 14 hours before using. Charging light is supposed to go out (according to instructions)when charged. It never did and this is my second unit charging well in excess of 14 hours. Then its internal battery only lasts for about 5 minutes after all that time charging. Radio reception is marginal. Forget the AM and FM. WB was acceptable but I am close to a station. One definitely needs to either install 3 akaline batteries or 3 rechargeable. I switched to Alkaline and except for poor FM reception, everything works better. Next I will try 3 rechargables and flip the battery switch as directed but the internal battery is a joke. Case is good as is price and layout but POOR RECEPTION and poorly written instructions and box advertizing make 2 stars the best I can give. It says it has retractable cord.... its not retractable. It says it includes rechargable batteries but thats a joke cause its only a small capacity internal one. Good Luck WeatherX. Update 11-26-07 To be fair After installing 3 new NIMH AAA batteries and charging for two days the blinking charge light still will not stop flashing to indicate charged as instructions seem to say it will. Anyway I removed my batteries to return unit and ... now running on internal NIMH and it has been on and playing for about 1 1/2 hours before the internal battery said low and shut off unit. Definitly needs the additional 3 AAA batteries for longer emergency playing time. Its better than the 5 minutes I got the first time I charged it for over 14 hours. Perhaps the internal batteries were so low to start (dead) and the internal charger low capacity that it takes a few days for them to catch. Add 1 star to my rating to make it three stars but I am still returning unit to buy a more expensive but better weather radio from Radio Shack that has better reception. Reception on WeatherX FM and WB is still lacking. Noisy and most local stations are weak possibly due to no external antenna or place to plug in one. My other radios are fine. I like the packaging on this unit and additional features over a standard weather radio but the reception quality is unsatisfactory for me.

Struck Out Twice,
This review is from: GPX Weather X RWB6806DT NOAA Weatherband, Digital Tune AM/FM/TV Radio, Built-In Flashlight with Recharge Circuit and Batteries (Electronics)
My son and I bought this item from JC Penney - twice. We returned it both times. Neither one worked. Okay, the blue light came on, but no radio, nothing else. We cranked and cranked and cranked and it didn't help.We were disappointed, and I am now looking for a much, much better weather radio.

I am a security guard and bought the item for the multi-use functions. None of the items worked well and I would have been more happy if I had bought a radio tha had been smashed and an attempt was made to fix it with the American Duct Tape.Don't even think of buying this item unless you are rich and want to throw away your money. I have a bridge in Arizona you could buy that would give you better service.

Terrible,
This review is from: GPX Weather X RWB6806DT NOAA Weatherband, Digital Tune AM/FM/TV Radio, Built-In Flashlight with Recharge Circuit and Batteries (Electronics)
The only feature that worked on this radio was the flashlight... Some of the numbers on the digital LCD display are missing making it impossible to know for sure what time it is, or what radio station you are, no make that "might" be listening to. That is, if the radio would hold its charge for more than about 10 seconds and pick up more than a very faint signal. I plugged in the radio into the wall socket overnight and it made no difference. The fact that W M and other big stores would continue to sell products that are known pieces of garbage is enough to convince me that they are immoral. You are now informed, if you're looking for a weather radio that will be ready for the job on day one, let alone when you might need it, look elsewhere.

You can crank the dynamo all day long and the most you will get out of this thing is the led flashlight to light up. If you plug it into the wall it will get enough juice to run the radio, but that's it. Once you unplug it from the wall don't expect it to turn it on the next day because it will be dead even if you left it off and hadn't touched it. It either doesn't hold a charge or it sapps a lot of power even when not being used. This is a complete waste of money. I gave mine to my three year old to wear him down at night cranking it to use as a flashlight.

This "radio" isn't even worth the time it would take to write a bad review. Don't buy it.

Very disappointed with this product. I live in an area prone to severe weather so I wanted a radio that would warn me. This radio didn't receive the NOAA channel or the TV audio.

Product will not hold a charge. It will lock up when you scan for a station. You can't find replacement batteries. This product sould be taken off the internet.
