Editorial Reviews

The movie is a film about three couples and a keen observation on the modern day marriage.

Rahul wakes up with a bad hangover after a party the night before. There he had met a sexy young woman Sophia. They got drunk and there were sparks flying. But Rahul doesn't remember what happened after that. Did they...go all the way?

His wife, Mitali, is in a particularly bad mood and Rahul suspects that she might know about his little escapade last night. Rahul starts chasing his night - trying to retrieve it - trying to find out what really happened.

His friends Saxena and Amit are going through their own marital crisis of sorts. Driven to his wits end, he realizes that he must seek Sophia out to restore his sanity.

Pritish Nandy Communications or PNC, which produced this movie, has been known for its offbeat, meaningful cinema which often derives inspiration from reality. They have had notable success such as Chameli, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi Thi, Jhankaar Beats etc. to name just a few.
Raat Gayi Baat Gayi is a movie directed by Sarabh Shukla the actor who has penned the most definitive Hindi gangster classic `Satya'.
Making an adult comedy is very difficult as this genre has not been known for many significant contributions to cinema lately without being compared to the masters Basu Bhattacharya and Basu Chatterjee. There have been rumors that this movie is similar to Hangover but that is not true, as they have similar plotlines but different themes.
Raat Gayi Bat Gayi is about marriages and infidelity. Rahul (Rajat Kapoor) wakes up with a hangover and finds that his wife is very upset. He suspects that it has something to do with the previous night. On this night he met a woman at a party played Neha Dhupia and sparks flew, but the problem is that he cannot remember what happened between them eventually.......
He enlists the help of his three friends who are also going through a rough patch in their marriage and tries to find the stranger ( Dhupia) to get to the bottom of the story.
The story moves through present day sequences and the incidents at the party where the supposed infidelity took place and these sequences are quite interesting and well filmed.
Overall the movie lacks a punch simply because these sequences are not funny enough. A host of characters add some depth to the proceedings but the final result is not that entertaining.
Performances are strictly okay, Rajat Kapoor and Vinay Pathak are able.
