PUNK-ROCK-SALSA-REGGAE-TRASH-CALIPSO-PLENA-FUNK. DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU THINK YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT. HOT.

To call them a Latin Rock band (quoting Rolling Stone magazine) doesn't do them half the musical justice they deserve. In an age where it's not unlikely to see extreme blends of styles, Panama-based Los Rabanes is a trio that blends in an exquisite and extremely contagious way the sounds of Punk, Power Rock, Calypso, Reggae, Ska, Hip Hop, Merengue, House and Salsa, bringing back to mind the legendary Argentinian band, Fabulosos Cadillacs with Spanglish lyrics.

In this self-titled release recorded in Miami, with Roberto Blades (Ruben's yoonger brother) and Emilio Estefan Jr. in the producer's seats, Los Rabanes create a unique stadium-like party environment that will get anyone with half an ear to listen and a leg to move, jumping into the dance floor in a few beats! It's virtually impossible to come up with a fave song. The entire album is highly danceable and a "rumba" from end to end!

Similar to Los Fabulosos Cadillacs... la mejor cancion es "i Shot the Law". Divertido, differente, y muuuuucho calor!

Finally a true music blend has arrived in the original (trust me it is) style of Los Rabanes, under the production of Emilio Stephan Jr. This panamanian band reflects energy, fun, a taste of black humor melted with a regaee, calypso, salsa in a garage-like punk rock... in spanish!!! You won't be sorry... give it a try!!!

vamos a ver.. aunq es un poco corto el cd.. esta super bueno!! si te gustó el primero y el segundo, te va gustar este. Todos las canciones kick (ya sabes) menos la de commanding wife en inlges! (esa no me gustó mucho pero todavia esta cool) COMPRALO HOY! buy it today buddy

This is a terrific, great, smashing CD, I've had had it for years and never get tired of listening to it. Some songs like "Angelito Porno Star" has strong sexual content, may be a bit much for younger teens or children (who speak Spanish)so be forwarned... The sound is spicy, vibrant and energetic, a mix of several different styles. It is not uncommon for musicians to try to mix things and come up with their own style -usually with simply ghastly results in my opinion- but I still encourage it because once in a long while what you get is what Rabanes achieved in this album: genius! And if you understand a bit of the culture/history of Panama, you'll appreciate the humor in "My Commanding Wife". "Senorita..." and "I fought the law" are outstanding as well, but unlike with most other albums I own, I listen to the all the songs without skipping!! You will enjoy this CD, those guys really know their music.
