5.0 out of 5 stars Love Rabbit Air
Have used a rabbit air for several years and it keeps dust, dander, and allergens out of the air. Works great for those of you non-smokers who are living with someone who does smoke, or if you smoke and want to clean the air in your space.

3.0 out of 5 stars Um?
I have had to replace this filter 3 times since January. The first time it only worked for a month. The second time, two months. Third time, two and a half. I see this thing is rated for up to 18 months, and apparently everybody loves it and it lasts for them. What's going on? Should I call the company? I do live in Los Angeles, on Sunset Blvd, and in a big building with...

I have asthma and allergies and an air cleaner for me is a must. Even though my apartment building is a non-smoking building, some of the tenants smoke and don't always obey the rules. But almost everything else that has an odor or a presence in the air can choke me. This cleaner works well for the price of the unit. The filters need to be changed at least every six months, but they are pretty pricey - if they were not so expensive I'd change them every three months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works as promised. Lasted longer than stated., March 7, 2009

This item was a direct OEM replacement to the filter that came with my unit. There was NO discrepancies between this one and the original.

Aside from the obvious shipping materials (which were ample): The packaging for this product is minimal: only a purple bag around it. No pointless extra box or other materials you just end up throwing away. The purple bag is "PE rated for recycling.

My last filter lasted 3 years, which is 18 months longer than suggested. How I knew it was time to change out the filter was that the unit began to suck air around the filter instead of through it. I would recommend NOT going quite this long, maybe 24 months.

I did, however, vacuum the filter every month or so with a good HEPA rated vacuum. This will prolong the life of your filter to 24 months, depending on your environment.

I am very pleased with my Rabbit. I had severe coughing episodes before I decided to give it a try. It has helped me with that problem, and I have recommended it to a friend.

I've had other types of air cleaners - Ionic Breeze, etc. - but Rabbitair is the best. It tells you how clean your air is and is quiet and relatively maintenance free (just vacuum the hepa filter and rinse the charcoal one every couple of months or so & replace about every 18 months). The filters are a bit expensive, but they only need to be replaced about every 18 months. Best of all, the Rabbitair gets the air in my apartment noticably cleaner faster than any of the other units I've tried.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Difference, July 30, 2010

This was my first time changing the filters since I bought the Rabbit Air BioGS (model 421A - 600 sq. ft.) Ultra-Quiet Air Purifier about two years ago. I should have changed them a long time ago.

I balked at spending so much for the HEPA filter, and I am still not thrilled about the cost, but there is no doubt it needed to be done. I had been cleaning the old filter with a vacuum and thought I had been doing a good job. The new filter was so clean, though, that it made the old one look like a dingy mess.

Everything fit fine. The packaging was great. And I have no complaints about the product. As another reviewer mentioned, it would be nice to have this bundled with the charcoal filter to save some money.

I have had the air purifier for over three years and after cleaning it noticed the hepa filter was dirty. After replacing the hepa filter there was a big difference. The difference was the air smelled cleaner and allergies improved greatly.

Review a filter...it honestly doesn't appear to be worth the high cost, but I bought into the reviews of the machine and ordered it a couple years ago. The filter lasts about 6 months before it demands to be replace. I have never noticed any difference with running the machine and seeing less dust in my house. None whatsoever!!!!!!! It is now in ONE room of my house that contains a computer, a medium parrot and the occassional dog or cat walking through. At night the door is closed and the machine turned on high and still there is no benefit evident at all!!! Not one iota. Dust all over my computer. I'd rather have NOT bought the machine and now buy the filters and paid for a service to clean my house. I do NOT have central heat or air. I live in the forest. I am surrounded by trees. I see no reason for all the dust in my house!!! But the bottom line is I see no improvement with the use of this air cleaner. Bummer, it cost about $350 too. I'd appreciate any hints as to what my problem is. Just be nice about it.........

I see this thing is rated for up to 18 months, and apparently everybody loves it and it lasts for them. What's going on? Should I call the company? I do live in Los Angeles, on Sunset Blvd, and in a big building with fairly poor airflow and non-existent filtration. However, all the doors and windows are kept closed and there is no smoke or other contaminants in the house. I keep it in my room, which is less than 400sf and doesn't see any odd particles/pollutants of any sort. It is terribly smoggy here, but is that actually the reason? I'm really confused... at over 50$ a pop, I'm also annoyed. If anyone else has had this experience or lives in the [or similar] area, I'd appreciate any theories/ideas.

Interesting how this filter is supposed to last at least a year but my rabbit air which is left on low 24/7 just shut itself off after 8 months, because of this filter became so clogged up. I have 2 cats in a one-bedroom apartment. For the filter to expire so quickly is a bit disappointment when the price of this filter is 45 dollars. Good filter but inaccurate description.
