5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for
My 3.5 year old son is ready to give up nap, but I wasn't ready to give up my afternoon quiet time. This was the perfect solution. I put one of these CDs in and he lays down and listens. There is nice music throughout and the storytellers all have very pleasant voices. There are 2 CDs in this set, each with over an hour of storytelling. He likes them so much that he...

3.0 out of 5 stars Half good, half not
We've been listening to this CD set for the last year or so on car trips. The stories run a little long for average school commutes and errands around town. My 3-year-old and 6-year-old really enjoy "The Talking Eggs" and "Thumbelina" (the 3-year-old less so than the 6-year-old). But ALL of us think that "The Fisherman and His Wife" and "The Emperor and the...

There is nice music throughout and the storytellers all have very pleasant voices. There are 2 CDs in this set, each with over an hour of storytelling. He likes them so much that he frequently gets up after the first CD is over and asks for the other one, so I get 2 hours of quiet and he gets the rest he still needs to get through his day. I will definitely be getting the other CDs in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rabbit Ears Treasury of Fairy Tales, May 9, 2007
This review is from: Rabbit Ears Treasury of Fairy Tales and Other Stories: Thumbelina, The Talking Eggs, The Fisherman and His Wife, The Emperor and the Nightingale (Audio CD)
When our children were little, every Friday evening on NPR radio, Rabbit Ears would share these treasures. The stories are excellent with movie stars reading the story and famous musicians doing the music. It is exciting to have these now on cd's! I love the Talking Eggs!

When I was small, I remember I always used to listen to Rabbit Ears CDs all the time. This audio cd is certainly no exception, as it contains fairy tales that I have grew up with for a long time. Each story is tender and subtle that makes the cd very relaxing to listen to. Probably my favorite stories from this audio cd would have to be "The Emperor and the Nightingale" and "The Talking Eggs." If you enjoy this audio cd, I would recommend listening to the other audio cds from the Rabbit Ears Treasury.

My 3-year-old and 6-year-old really enjoy "The Talking Eggs" and "Thumbelina" (the 3-year-old less so than the 6-year-old). But ALL of us think that "The Fisherman and His Wife" and "The Emperor and the Nightingale" are not worth the time or effort to listen to. My children get bored with them. My husband and I think that these latter two stories are way too long, don't flow well as stories, and have plots and characters that just aren't that sympathetic. But Sissy Spacek's narration of "The Talking Eggs" and the story itself are really engaging and fun to listen to.
