5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Rabbit Book
A lot of good information and some good photos. I have yet to find one definitive house rabbit guide, but this covers a lot of the basics: history, deciding if rabbit is right pet, adopting a rabbit, setting up living space and health. There is also a great section on rabbit behavior and behavior problems.

2.0 out of 5 stars there are better books on the market
According to the previous positive reviews, this should be a great book. I don't think so! Quite honestly, there is a lot more valuable information on the internet, than what you can learn from this book. It seems to be written for children and there is really nothing extraordinary aboutthe information presented in the book. It's basic stuff for neophytes. Don't buy it,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great rabbit book for newbies, January 22, 2010
This review is from: Rabbits: Complete Care Guide (Paperback)
This is one of the better pet rabbit books that has been published recently. It is very well balanced, simple to read, and very informative about keeping rabbits. It covers all aspects of rabbit onwership, from rescue, to breeding and showing. I would recommend this one for any pet owner, rescue worker, or breeder.

The pictures are super hokey and outdated, but this book gives good advice on rabbit care. It was easy enough for my 2nd-grader to read and understand. Who knew you have to trim your rabbit's nails?!

4.0 out of 5 stars good 1st book, September 7, 2011

This book is a good starter book for the person considering buying a rabbit. There are a few things that aren't clear or seem contradictory, but those can be taken care of by consulting other books after you get your rabbit. For example the book says that rabbits are generally healthy but then later recommends a yearly checkup. I don't think that's necessary until the rabbit reaches at least half way through the expected lifespan for the breed, except for breeding females. Every 2 years is often enough for young, symptom-free rabbits who haven't had litters. No need to add the stress of extra visits.

I also will note that the book's pages have a slight coat of something that makes it impossible to make permanent notations with a pencil; they easily rub off by hand. Of course this might be desirable to some people. Ink can't be rubbed off.
