Excellent Pasta December 26, 2009

I first encountered cavatappi in a Bertolli frozen dinner and immediately fell in love. This is the most pleasing of short pastas. I love the way it can be cooked al dente, but maintain an even heftier, yet tender bite with its corkscrew layers. I can't believe this isn't more readily available nationwide. If tried, for most people it will quickly out-strip the venerable penne as a short pasta favorite. This brand is of good quality, and a great price. At the time I bought it, it worked out to a little under $1.50 per lb, a great buy for something that I can't find locally, and especially a good with my prime membership. Thanks, Amazon, for carrying this great product.

Overburdened, overbooked and one menu item down for tomorrow's "pot luck", I was dreading the night ahead. Too tired to order, when the waiter at a fine dining establisment suggested the Mac N' Cheese, I was charmed by the young boy's sincerity. Ordered it, loved it, and spent the next two weeks looking for this particular shape of pasta. Yes, shape matters! The perfect ratio of pasta to sauce, I am now testing in the kitchen to precisely replicate the sauce as well. This was no ordinary Mac N'Cheese, yet if it had been called anything else, like Cavatappi Alfredo, I would have not even ordered it!. Once again, Amazon to the rescue! No local grocers even carry this product. I bought a whole case!

I fell in love with cavatappi noodles while dining out and could not find them in any store in my area. I finally found them on Amazon and was thrilled! This is a hearty noodle that holds up extremely well in soup, which was the main reason I purchased them. They are great for macaroni and cheese and also other pasta dishes as well. I would recommend them to anyone and will definitely purchase them again.
