This book fulfills its promise to provide information for those among us wanting to know as much as possible about the bandit. The only shortcoming is the sparcity of photos and the absence of even a single color print. I blame not the author for his writing is impeccable.Still, this book is well worth the money!

This is a very nicely written book, which covers everything from the systematics to the life cycle and habits of raccoons. It answered all of my questions spurred by meeting (and becoming enchanted by) a nearly tame raccoon. It is the quality of book one had come to expect from the now defunct Smithsonian Institution Press.

Solid information,

Systematic approach and good over-view. Well-written, would have liked a few color pictures to illustrate some points, but very helpful overall.
