Book Description

9 and up4 and upGolden Filly
Tricia Evanston has loved horses as long as she can remember just like her father. He has always encouraged her love of horse racing and has been training her to compete professionally. Things are not as smooth with Tricia's mother who worries about her schoolwork and the chances of her getting hurt. Their relationship is easily strained.

Tricia has turned sixteen and her whole life is about to be turned upside down. Her father has been coughing for a long time and finally goes to the hospital. The family is devastated when they learn the diagnosis. Tricia and her older brother David try to take care of the ranch, but when some of the horses get sick, Tricia's schoolwork really suffers.

And then there's the question of her faith. How can she trust in God when He's seemingly forgotten her father?

5.0 out of 5 stars I really liked it..., July 13, 2000
This review is from: The Race (Golden Filly) (Paperback)
I received this book when I was little and I didn't read it until maybe two years ago...

This book was VERY GOOD...I cannot stress that enough. Even if you aren't a Christian, if you love horses and powerful writing, you'll love this book. I think the seris gets a little cheesy after this because every horse in every racing book wins the triple crown, but anyway..read it...it's inspiring and it's got real problems and real people in it. :)

I loved this book so much, that I couldn't put it down!! I am also a horse lover, and Spitfire seemed like a dream horse. But when her dad went into the hospital with lung cancer, I cried for a long time. I hope that I can read this whole series and find out what happens!!
