I like this book; it's easy to read and it puts the court cases in context. Well organized and has occasional graphics.

Professor Higginbotham creates a unique study of race and the law that isn't in other books, with perhaps the exception of the late Derrick Bell's study. He integrates excerpts from articles and other sources which provides more diversity of thought than just law cases from judges. I am referring to this text for that diversity in a civil rights course I am designing, so the book is very timely. Alan Jay Rom
