This review is from: Race, Myth and the News (Paperback)
This is an excellent book that sheds light on some of the realities of television news and its perpetuation of various levels of racism. It critically examines news stories from TV affiliates around the country and exposes traditionally accepted TV news practices, evoking serious ethical questions. I will never be able to watch local news in the same way. Some of the examples are truly shocking.
This book is excellent!

This review is from: Race, Myth and the News (Paperback)
Race, Myth and the News does a great job exposing the way that the execution of television news defines it's depiction of issues of race. Without making accusations and generating theories without context, the author is able to breakdown his research to show trends and examples from real TV news broadcasts. He gives you room to think for yourself.
I would recommend reading this book in conjunction with How to Watch TV News by Neil Postman. |
