Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Would Be proud,
By A Customer
This review is from: Race, Religion & Racism, Vol. 1: A Bold Encounter With Division in the Church (Hardcover)
After faithfully listening to Dr. Price for 77 weeks, actually teaching the topic Race, Religion and Racism, his book by the same name is awesome. It's easy to read and very poignant. It was one thing hearing his words, but to see them and read them in print carries a much greter impact. This book is destined to become a bestseller, not only in the Christian market, but the secular as well. It provides an historic explaination as to where racism originated, in the church. Unfortunately, this book is only volume 1. I can't wait to receive volume 2.

This was a well composed presentation of an old and sensitive subject that most people especially the 'powers that be' would love to forget. Rev. Price managed to do a full expose` of a very difficult subject beginning with his reasons for wanting to discuss the problems of racism in the Christian Church especially the white Christian church. He puts the responsibility for this problem-and the ultimate solution- where it belongs and that is squarely on the heads of white people especialy the white Christian Church which willing choose to fornicate with the pro-slavery movement. Their lust for money and power encouraged them to create new and unusually cruel ways to deny Africans their God given humanity, hence the branding of American slavery as the "strange and perculiar institution". To this end, they, white Christians , even created their own tainted version of the Bible( the King James translation) to support their continual economic exploitation and dehuminization of Black peoples. The effects of slavery and the subsequent racism that continues to this very second, ravages the Black family and community. Is it any surprise when African Americans have been erroneously told from the beginning that they were a curse of God! What that has done to the collective Black psyche? is also reviewed well. Rev. Price very methodically uses history, science and the Word of God to identify and negate the falicies of centuries of lies against Blacks. Most impressive to me was that he supported his explainations with documented facts and an extensive list of references from prestigious Black and white authorities. His most skilfully built arguement was on the location of the Garden of Eden and the Biblical, scientific and genetic evidence about Adam and Eve .I am not a history buff but this book made me want to study geography, archcheology, and world and religious history. I emphatically recommend Race, Religion and Racism to ANYONE who really wants to discover the truth as I found through this reading that it indeed will make you free.

This review is from: Race, Religion & Racism, Vol. 1: A Bold Encounter With Division in the Church (Hardcover)
Race, Religion & Racism illustrates and documents how White Christians have failed to address wrongs done to Blacks in American society. Author Frederick Price advocates the governmental and societal changes needed to enable individuals of color to live and work productively together. Price points out that Adam, Eve and Jesus Christ were all individuals of color; slavery in America was enabled by the corruption of Scripture; that millions of Americans of diverse racial background feel the Christian Church has failed them; that despite differences in color and culture resulting from historical, cultural and geographical isolations, all men and women share the same blood as demonstrated through the fact that any racial roup can share blood through transfusion; that Christians who do not say anything condemning racism are as guilty as those who contribute to the racial dilapidation of society. Race, Religion & Racism is an important, well researched, admirably reasoned, and reader friendly contribution to the on-going national dialogue within the churches on the subject of racism, the brotherhood of man, and the role of the Christian to address the evils present in the secular world -- and within some professedly Christian congregations and movements.

Race, Religion & Racism,
This review is from: Race, Religion & Racism, Vol. 1: A Bold Encounter With Division in the Church (Hardcover)
Fred Price has stepped forward and confronted racism in the church and anyone interested in changing the face of the church should read this book. The book is a must read for everyone who wants to know the truth about how racism has affected every one in this nation. The book challenges the church to step forward and repent for its participation and support of slavery. It is a must read for every Pastor in this country if the church is to overcome this stain. This book is for those who want to obliterate racism in the church. I thank Mr. Price for writing such a book that dispels myths about blacks and exposes the ignorance of racism. This book lets us know that history is replete with untruth taught to both Whites and Blacks and Race, Religion & Racism tells the cold hard facts about it all, and everyone shoud be interested in nothing but the truth about racism. Thanks for a powerful book that Lets the church know it must change or suffer.

Amazing historical insight,

I have just finished reading the 2 volumes.I am an English-born African who grew up in Nigeria. Until December 2001, I thought I knew most things about the black race or dispersed races and slavery till I visited the Scheepvaart Museum in Amsterdam and saw the exhibition on Slavery and how much profit the traders made for a consignment of 500 slaves - over half a million dollars, in the 18th century. That really unnerved me - I did not know it was such a profitable venture. Reading these books put more light on the falsehoods that have been perpetrated as biblical truths and swallowed by both the white and black people alike. I first heard of the curse of Ham almost 20 years ago, and this was corroborated by the Dake Annotated Reference Bible, a most sought after study bible in Nigeria - one wonders how many more perverted conclusions have been foisted on people by 'respected' commentators. Two things are clear from these books, in the secular world the apparently 'superior' race have a lot of wrongs to right, there is however a better way; in the Christian world, people (all races) should move into the fulness of who they are in Christ, and leave behind the shackles and chains of physical, mental, emotional, financial and spiritual slavery. We know where we have come from, with that knowledge, we can appreciate better what was done for us in Christ and lay hold on the future that speaks better than our past - Philipians 3:13&14 (Paraphrased)

The author advocates the governmental and societal changes needed to enable individuals of color to work together; but the heart of his title lies in religious references and links between religious history and modern times. How has the Church failed people of color? How have Christians failed them? Price points out important connections between religion and racist behavior.

Excellent Resource For African Americans,

This review is from: Race, Religion & Racism, Vol. 1: A Bold Encounter With Division in the Church (Hardcover)
I found this book to be well written and documented. I understand the anger that Dr. Price feels as I am an African American who has seen some of this subtle racism. It is a shame when men who for years were examples of godliness, yet also secretly harbor feelings of white superiority. Dr. Price shows us that no man is better than another based on the color of that person's skin.Dr. Price writes this with tough love. He displays his love for his white brothers and sisters but shows his strong committment and lack of compromise in support of his own race. Jesus is truly in the heart of Dr. Price. It is time for those in the church who have even the smallest of "white supremacy" in their hearts to ripp that thing out through the blood of Jesus and repent for it. It is also time for African Americans to realize who they are as a people and most of all, who they are in Christ. We are not inferior but we are created in the image of God. Pneuma Life Publishing also publishes many good books along these lines. Do a search for them here at Amazon.com

This review is from: Race, Religion & Racism, Vol. 1: A Bold Encounter With Division in the Church (Hardcover)
Even though I am a believer and follower of God in Christ, I still hold the observation that Bible-thumping, church-going "Christians" are some to the meanest, nastiest people on Earth! Many of them are throughly described and explained in this MASTERPIECE of a book by Dr. Price. If you listen to this country's electronic media, especially AM talk radio, evilness and racism (in the name of Christianity, of course) continues to pollute American culture. Dr Price needs to be broadcasted by both TV and radio stations just as much as Rush, Imus, the "religious right," and other demagogues. Since I doubt truth and justice will ever be a featured documentary through electronic media, I strongly recommend this excellent book for all level-minded, truth-seeking readers.

as far as historical content the book is above reproach. Its his plan to correct the problem that i have a problem with. He's just sitting around waiting for them to give us something. He even says the white people of america are the only ones that can correct the problem. He thinks that they are just going to get up and say alright here's the reparations you wanted. I don't think so. He has to be prepared to get up and do something dramatic like run for president or open businesses that black people could run. I'm waiting to see what's he really willing to do when he sees that they're not going to just give us our money without a fight? I believe he would be very successful if he ran for president. Come on Fred go for it! We'll support you.

I bought this book and you cant get any better than what Dr. Price has in its contents. Everything about the lineage of Christ to how they used the African people wrongfully, and those that use the Bible as a weapon to support slavery. Great book!
