"Race Traitor", edited by Noel Ignatiev and John Garvey, is a disturbing book.

What's disturbing is not the authors' call to "abolish the White race". Those who accuse Messrs. Ignatiev and Garvey of calling for genocide have obviously never read the book. The authors argue (correctly) that there is no such thing as a White race, that the idea of Whiteness is a social construct connected to oppression based on purported racial differences, and that "the White race" in *this* sense must therefore be abolished. Ignatiev doesn't know exactly what kind of identity should replace Whiteness, but he does have a few suggestions: Germanic and Celtic identities, Blackness or some kind of "melting pot" identity (his preferred option).

Only a racist could find this part of the book disturbing.

Personally, I think the problem is the rest of this volume!

Ignatiev and Garvey romanticize the lumpen proletariat, and seem to consider those with a lumpen lifestyle as the real force for revolutionary change in American society. Ignatiev even suggests that White lumpens attracted to neo-Nazi groups might be a revolutionary force, provided they are suitably converted and become race traitors instead. He also regards Whites drawn to militia groups as a potential base for recruits, criticizing the anti-racist Southern Poverty Law Center for tracking such groups.

"Race Traitor" contains one article expressing some kind of sympathy with Colin Ferguson, the man responsible for the Long Island Rail Road massacre. There is an interview with an ex-Nazi who claims to have been voluntarily homeless, and who related to drug addicts "by shooting up with them". Another article, apparently written by anarcho-surrealists, claim that looting during riots is great fun! And so it goes on, sometimes making you wonder whether the editors are really serious or simply want to strike a militant pose. Ignatiev, after all, is a Jewish Harvard professor. I can't picture him in upstate Idaho, recruiting ex-Nazis at some trailer park. But, then, I never met Noel, so who knows?

It's also unclear how "Race Traitor" really wants to abolish the White race (i.e. racism). They seem to place heavy emphasis on a kind of purely personal statements, such as refusing to move to the suburbs, declaring yourself to be non-White in public, listening to Black music, wearing dreadlocks, etc. I get the impression that "Race Traitor" vacillates between purely symbolic acts of defiance and desperate violence. It's difficult to see how any of this could "abolish the White race"?

I'm not saying this is a "bad" book. It's hard-hitting, provocative and somewhat insane, and it sure makes you think outside the box. Still, I would advise people to stay clear from the Harper's Ferry Organization, or whoever is behind this hit piece of agit prop.

One day, the so-called White race will indeed be "abolished", but probably not using then methods described in "Race Traitor"...

this is a fantastic collection of essays and poetry (2 poems). it is necessary for americans to finally come to terms with the fragility of being "white". why does being "white"-skinned, or having a white parent, not prevent the discrmination of Latinos, Blacks, and Asians? the simple truth is that "white" and "race" are all socially constructed "truths" to divide a potentially awe-inspiring nation of nations. what happens when "white" people wake up and call for an end to racial oppression? read the book...

People who rail against this collection of work generally do so for one or both of the following reasons: 1) They have an investment in maintaining whiteness in the US; these people may be "white" or not. 2) They misunderstand the goal of Igantiev and Garvey to be the genocide of light-skinned people, which it most definitely is not. Their goal is to socially destruct the significance of whiteness, not to kill anybody. If you read the publication, you'll see this clearly. Buy it and see for yourself; if you don't like it, return it. It's an important and thought-provoking piece of literature for people of all colors who are disgusted racism in the USA.

As an " hispanic" American I found this book to contain some of the most offensive and hateful writings I have ever had the displeasure to read. The premise of this work is to build a foundation of hatred against a color and to designate blame of all the worlds evils on a specific color of skin. Evil knows no color. History stands as a witness to this fact.
The attempt to confront ignorance with further ignorance only goes to show that education in itself is not the answer to correct humanities ills. The truth must be at the center of all effort. And this work is not only void of all truth, but conveys the moral bankruptcy of many of America's premiere educational institutions. What makes this group and many others like it think that millions of hispanics like myself would follow such a doctrine of hatred is beyond me.

If someone is created white, than that is their God given color and they should be proud, because white is beautiful. Yes, I mentioned GOD. Someone who is increasingly absent from these types of liberal, left wing works of garbage that pass as literature. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

How did this guy not get fired by Harvard for writing this disgusting, hateful, bizarre, and sick tome? If a Professor at a major University wrote that all Native Americans, or African-Americans should be killed then this person would be villified and fired. Lunatics such as Igantiev need to be ostracized for the kooks that they are, not giving promotions!

This sick soul believes everyone of European origin should be destroyed! It's basically Hitler-ism in reverse. The same people who brought us Democracy, the first race to abolish slavery, gave us electricity, go down the list, should be destroyed? Something is definitely wrong with Harvard.

There's something many of the reviewers here fail to recognize in their "reasoning". That is the fact that Noel Ignatiev himself is Irish, which by the current understanding of the concept - qualifies him for membership in the white race. So if, in fact, he was calling for literal genocide, then he'd also be calling for his own destruction. It is clear to anyone with ONE "working brain cell" that he is talking about the elimination of the CATEGORY called "white" and all the privilege it implies.

This book is not talking about eliminating the individuals who happen to fit in the category, but rather eliminating a certain mindset that many of them possess. Non-white, then, can also include people of European descent who reject classification as "white", choosing instead to identify with their own particular ethnic group - which is a more adequate representation in EVERY case.

A "Race Traitor" therefore is someone who turns his/her back on the concept of race, who betrays the common "understanding" that there even IS such a thing as "whiteness", and who instead is in favor of moving towards assessing people on the basis of their individual merits.

All you "anti-liberal" critics crying out against "genocide" seriously need to READ the book.

While I did not read the whole book, I certainly believe I read more than enough to get an accurate impression of what the authors were trying to say.

I found the general tone of this book extreme in its antagonism to anything the authors considers "white." and generous to anything "nonwhite." I think that the author is himself is probably a racial supremacist of some sort, and perhaps is quite jealous of those whites who have accomplished the worthwhile.

Apparently all the ills of the world would disappear if the white race or "white privilege" were abolished. I think the general theme of the book might be summed up this way:

If a white person commits a crime against a black (or non-white) person, the white person is at fault. If a black (or non-white) person commits a crime against a white person, the white person is at fault. No matter what the circumstances, or who is involved, it's the white person's fault, according to the author. What is the logical solution to what Ignatiev frames as the root problem? Eliminate the white person, or eliminate "white privilege" which somehow "triggers" all the woes of the world.

Overall one of the most hate filled and nasty publications I've ever been exposed to.

This is a great book to read to understand why Hilter is becoming more loved by young Whites then he was just a few years ago. The Chosen show their true mission; this is far better than the Elders Of Zion or even Klassen's books because it is from the horses mouth.

...RACE TRAITOR does not promote self-loathing among whites. Its task is to abolish white dominance by showing examples of personal sacrifice for those who are oppressed. It is an important text for anyone who is willing to free their mind of current conservative political jargon and create a solution to the epidemic of racial hierarchy...

Noel Ignatiev, with his mantra of "abolish the white race", as disgusting as that sounds, is only saying what much (most?) of the Left in this country and the West as a whole is already thinking, and was already thinking long, long before Ignatiev came onto the scene.

Indeed, the Ignatiev agenda is already happening, since the fertility rate of the white European race is only about 1.7, which is well below the minimum replacement level of 2.0, and part of this is the fault of "anti-racists" such as Ignatiev, and to a greater extent, those in positions of power within government, media, and the corporatocracy.

For those who need it spelt out how "anti-racists" contribute to the problem of sub-replacement European fertility, it works like this: If you're a white woman in this society, and in most other Western societies, you know whatever kids you have will be pushed to the back of the line because of "affirmative action", will be constantly called "oppressors", and often treated that way, by the media, by their universities, etc., and that their universities will call in people such as Tim Wise who hate Europeans, and who have made statements such as "I want white Arizona brought to its knees," in order to "justify" the very worst abuses of the system, while hysterically claiming to be "outsiders" in a European-dominated system, which it may have been 100 years ago, but clearly isn't today. So because of all that and many other abuses, many white women decide simply not to have any kids, pushing the overall European birthrate down below the replacement level.

For those who need the ultimate ramifications of sub-replacement European fertility spelt out, it means that all the Europeans will die off after a certain number of decades, and the Europeans will go extinct.

*The Leftist retort of course is that Ignatiev is only calling for the "abolition" of our race, not actual killing of Europeans. But this "abolition" will eventually lead to physical destruction of Europeans because of what I mentioned above, and also at the hands of races that were far more ethnocentric than Europeans to begin with, even before "anti-racism" became all the rage in this country in the 1960s, and that are being imported into this country at breakneck speed by Leftist government officials for precisely this purpose.
