Inside everyone is an athlete. Some are lucky enough to have been encouraged early in life. They have experienced the excitement and challenge of athletic competition. They have experienced the satisfaction of having a body that doesnt just get by, its a machine. However, there is a rather large group of people for whom the idea of athletic competition and training is absolutely foreign. They may or may not be overweight. Either way, they know that they are "out of shape." They are searching. Searching for a way to finally get fit and HAVE FUN! They want to get their mind off of calories, fat grams and the bathroom scale. Are you one of those people?
What's missing? Perhaps competitive running! Competition-the very word gets my adrenaline flowing. The thrill of every little victory, from the very first mile without any walking breaks, to the incredible high after receiving an age-group award for a difficult race. The anticipation you'll feel when the starting gun goes off and you join the mob of runners in an all-out athletic effort, trying to be faster than your last race and faster than that runner just ahead of you! The excitement of having those miles add up in the running log. The self-confidence that comes from getting faster and stronger. Being able to look back and see where it all started.
