I gave this toy to my son when he turned 5. After about 2 months playing with the toy, he can now build the models on the back of the box by himself. He loves the toy. I highly recommend it.

This toy is fun because of all the moving parts. The problem we found was that although the box says ages 5+, it really is tough to follow the directions. The directions only show about 4 pictures for the entire machine you are trying to build. I would say this is better suited for 8+. My 6 year old enjoys playing with it after I put it together. Be sure to buy a storage container for all the little pieces.

This thing has a thousand little pieces that will not fit in a 5 or even 10 year olds hands and do not seem to actually fit properly together. I, not my 4.5 year old just spent half an hour building a crappy car that will not stay together. It was a gift and wish i had a receipt to return it. This is truly the worst. Love my legos. Do not buy as a gift unless you really do not like the people you are giving it too.
