I gave this toy to my son when he turned 5. After about 2 months playing with the toy, he can now build the models on the back of the box by himself. He loves the toy. I highly recommend it.

This toy is fun because of all the moving parts. The problem we found was that although the box says ages 5+, it really is tough to follow the directions. The directions only show about 4 pictures for the entire machine you are trying to build. I would say this is better suited for 8+. My 6 year old enjoys playing with it after I put it together. Be sure to buy a storage container for all the little pieces.

This thing has a thousand little pieces that will not fit in a 5 or even 10 year olds hands and do not seem to actually fit properly together. I, not my 4.5 year old just spent half an hour building a crappy car that will not stay together. It was a gift and wish i had a receipt to return it. This is truly the worst. Love my legos. Do not buy as a gift unless you really do not like the people you are giving it too.

I seldom write a review. But this product needs it.
First off, it is hard to impossible for my 5 yo to build these trucks. But I can actually get pass that. It's a fun activity to do together and you get rewarded with a truck, right? Wrong. Even when I assembled the truck, it won't really stay together. As soon as you hand it over to your child to play with -BOOM - the wheels fall off. Or some other part. It's very frustrating for all involved.
AND you can't build more than 2 truck at a time. As a matter of fact, sometimes you can't build even 2 of them. How disappointing!! I bought this for $11 and am returning it tomorrow. Save yourself the hassle and don't buy the toy.

My son received this for his 5th birthday and we were both a bit surprised at how tiny the pieces are. In my opinion, this should be for older kids (maybe 7 and up???) and this is why I give it a low rating. This seems pretty complicated for the preschool crowd. He really enjoys the Kid K'Nex sets which are much more his speed. (He has about 4 Kid K'Nex sets and enjoys them all.) We'll hold unto to this for when he gets a little older.

My son loves racing cars and building so this looked like a good buy for him. I read other reviews and was a little concerned as to whether he would be able to use it, but went ahead and got it for his 5th birthday. I am glad I did, he loves to make the cars and then play with them, there are insructions for plenty of the models and you can get the rest online. He does have some difficulty with some of the instructions but mostly he can do them with a little help. The bricks don't click quite the same as lego stuff and feel less secure, but once they are built they seem to hold together well, the K'nex stuff is good.

Just built the tow truck in less than 3 hours, which is on the highest difficulty level. The instructions are somewhat lacking, but its not too difficult to figure out how to build these things. Overall this is a great toy.

Kids were building cars on Christmas day...from 5 to 16. Quick ship, good value.
