The set includes two 12-ounce oval casseroles with fitted lids for covered cooking. The petite size of the casserole best accommodates a meal for one or a side dish, like baked beans.

The casseroles feature durable cast-iron construction. The attributes of cast-iron construction include unmatched durability against warping and breakage, superb heat retention, and even heat distribution. Porcelain enamel coats the cast-iron casseroles to eliminate the need for pre-seasoning on the interiors, which other cast-iron cookware requires. This construction also allows the casseroles to adapt for stovetop-to-oven-to-table use. To transport contents to and fro, each casserole is cast with two loop-style handles. These cast iron caseroles are perfect for a two person household. I am a big fan of portion control since my husband and I are in our 60's and these are so perfect for just the right amount of casserole.
