Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Simmer up a spicy black bean soup or bake a sumptuous cheese soufflé in this versatile 3-1/2-quart covered casserole. From Rachael Ray's new line of cookware, the round casserole features cast-iron craftsmanship, enabling the cookware to adapt for stovetop-to-oven-to-table use. The attributes of cast iron include unmatched durability against warping and breakage, superb heat retention, and even heat distribution. Porcelain enamel coats the casserole to eliminate the need for interior pre-seasoning, which other cast-iron cookware requires. To transport contents to and fro, the casserole proffers two loop handles cast on the sides. The fitted cast-iron lid contains flavor and heat for more efficient and tasty cooking. A top-mounted knob aids in easy lid removal. For the best care, allow the casserole to cool before washing it by hand. Avoid abrasive scrubbing pads and harsh cleansers to preserve the casserole's enamel. Dry immediately to prevent corrosion. A limited lifetime warranty covers the China-made casserole. The casserole measures 14-1/3 by 14-1/5 by 10-1/5 inches and weighs 21.1 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

4.0 out of 5 stars A good medium-sized pot., May 6, 2007

I like cast iron, but it can be a hassle to care for, what with possiblility of rust, food sticking. This enamelled pot solves the problem. It slow-cooks well, as cast iron pots do, and is very easy to clean. Attractive too, if you like orange!

I bought this dutch oven 13 months ago. I use wooden spoons, and cook on moderate heat. Yesterday, while I was sauteeing onions and mushrooms preparing for a sauce I noticed something white in the onions. The enamel had peeled off, and was breaking up in the pan as I stirred them! When I emptied the pan I saw a spot of iron the size of a nickel sitting next to a dime. That's fairly significant. The pan is unusable. I will be trying to get my money back, or at least let the Rachael Ray people know that there is a problem. Has anybody else had this experience?

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!, December 20, 2007

This is a great pot. I love to cook and love cast iron BUT my grandmother cast iron skillet is a pain to keep from rusting (it is great to cook in but not great to clean). This is the best of both worlds.
