Broke into pieces,
By Mrs. K "From the wilds of the Mojave" (Mojave Desert, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rachael Ray Brick Garbage Bowl (Kitchen)
I bought this for my mother who loves Rachel Ray and doesn't seem to know how to use a regular trash can. It worked as a garbage bowl for about two months. Then it got knocked onto my *rag rug* in the kitchen where it broke into pieces. It has since been replaced with a stainless steel bowl that has a big dent on the bottom. However, Mom still can't get her butter wrappers and egg shells into the bowl -- she leaves her trash everywhere.
Since it is comparable in cost to a piece of Tupperware, I don't think it's worth the money unless you just have to have everything Rachel.

Fragile!,

accidently nocked it over from counter to floor and it broke into 5 pieces! Really for something plastic that claims it is "durable" it shouldn't break that easily. Save your money and get something nicer.

Attractive, Sturdy and Handy!,

Yes,I know I could use any ol' bowl for this purpose, but I have really enjoyed this bright, attractive bowl. After it comes out of the dishwasher it even has a designated spot on the kitchen counter. It's good quality melamine and due to that it doesn't retain odors, is sturdy as hell, and washes up like a dream. The design is a throw back to the kitchenware of the 50's and 60's...maybe that's why it appeals to me! I've used it so much that when they went on sale, I ordered another one for myself and one for my mom. I plan to use one for "wet" garbage (destined for the garbage disposal or compost) and one for "dry" garbage (destined for the trash can). As for all those who feel it necessary to post negative reviews for things they don't own, nor even plan to own, stop wasting my time! If you don't own it, your opinion doesn't really hold a lot of water anyway.

Sentimental reasons.,

It is just a plastic bowl. I would never buy something like this because of the Rachael Ray name or because of the the garbage bowl thing. I purchased it because my Grandmother had bowls like this when I was growing up. They remind me of her. Probably still not a great reason to buy it but there it is. Put popcorn in it and what can you say? Yummo!

Just an ordinary bowl,

This bowl is no different than any other. Since it is designed to look like a Texas Bowl although it is nothing like it. The sides of the bowl are too thin and the opening of the bowl needs to be wider (for easy mixing and scraping stuff out of the bottom).

Broke too easily!,

This was a good bowl the four times I used it. Unfortunately, it broke when it was dropped 6 inches into a box filled with bubble wrap. Other reviewers have mentioned the ease with which their bowls broke, so I am not replacing it nor buying any as gifts (my original plan).

Funky and Oh-So-Convenient....,
This review is from: Rachael Ray Brick Garbage Bowl (Kitchen)
I really bought this for my niece and ended up having to buy 2. I'm a prolific and bone-lazy cook; when I'm done in the kitchen, I have every pot and pan, etc., in the sink. I don't like to drag the garbage out (I have a dog) to throw stuff in as I cook, and leaving a mixing bowl out on my sink to hold refuse looks like, well, it looks like a dirty mixing bowl. The garbage bowl, in the brick color, is a funky melamine that does not look like a mixing bowl. In fact, when the sun is shining (not much lately), the bowl actually glows. I can leave it out on the counter. I fill it up as I'm cooking and when I'm done, it's ONE TRIP to the garbage disposal or garbage. It's out of reach of my dog. I use this every single day - it's such a simple idea and it saves me so much time that I'm irritated I didn't think of it myself. No stains, and it's dishwasher-safe, although I normally just swipe it with a damp paper towel. I recommend this esoteric little must-have; after just a few weeks, I wouldn't part with it.

Not for garbage only,

Although Rachel loves this bowl for garbage, I found it very useful for evreything around the kitchen. I use it as a mixing bowl for my home made cookies, a salad bowl and especially a great bowl for holding microwaved popcorn. Easy to clean and pretty to look at.

Love it, unfortunately to pieces!,

I do love this bowl, and have owned two of them now. Unfortunately, it just breaks too easy. I just broke my second one today and am very upset about it. The color matches so well with my decor and looks great on my counter. However, I dropped it about 8 inches and it shattered into pieces. I really wish they would use something more durable for this bowl. But that would probably take the price way too high. I will probably not purchase another one as it is a waste to spend that much and then have it break within a couple of months.

Nice Bowl,

This is a nice bowl, though I never use it for garbage (old large margarine tubs work great for that). It's a great size for many things including salad, popcorn and as a medium mixing bowl.
