5.0 out of 5 stars Not cheap
I own Rachael Ray's 3 piece knife set; they are great; sturdy, sharp, wonderfully weighted. They are "Australian designed hardened German stainless steel". The bamboo box is not of great quality and maybe that was made in China.

I bought a set of these knives for my wife. What a poor design! We use the remaining knives very gently for fear of breaking them also. The Limited Lifetime warrenty is totally worthless because there is no-one who you can go to to try to get a replacement or repair. I will never buy a Furi product again

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Knives, January 12, 2007
This review is from: Furi Rachael Ray Gusto-Grip 6-Piece Bamboo Block Set (Kitchen)
These knives have a good feel to them. They are very sharp and I expect they will last a long time. Okay the packaging was a little cheep looking, but that has already been thrown away.
I give the knife set 5 Stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Broken Bread Knife in 2 days, December 8, 2009
By
BBB "Brad" (Houston, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Furi Rachael Ray Gusto-Grip 6-Piece Bamboo Block Set (Kitchen)
My wife and I received these as wedding gifts from BB&B. We've been using them nearly daily for about 2 years. The only problem we've had with the set is the bread knife. Within 2 days of opening the set and using it for the first time the bread knife broke at the end of the handle. We tried to return it to BB&B but it was already no longer being sold. Other than that this set is incredible. The knives hold an edge just fine and if you buy the Furi sharpener it only takes about 5 seconds to re-sharpen when it does get dull. I'd recommend these if not for the broken bread knife...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Knife set, May 20, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Furi Rachael Ray Gusto-Grip 6-Piece Bamboo Block Set (Kitchen)
I bought these knives for my wife, mainly because she is a huge Rachel Ray fan. These knives are terrific. They are very sharp, come in a nice block, and the handles are very comfortable. My wife is a petite 5', so the rubbarized, conformed grips fit her hands perfectly.

Update: 29 March, 2010.

Don't ever break one of these knives. I've been searching for three months for a replacement to the 3.5" knife. Keep getting the runaround.

Update: December, 2010.

It's been a few months and I've given up trying to find a replacement for the 3.5" knife. Nobody will sell just one knife as a replacement so we're stuck. The point broke off the tip of the 3.5" knife so it is basically useless at this poing. Too bad because the knife set overall is very good.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheaply Made, June 27, 2006

I tried this knife at Sur La Table at the Furi demo. They appeared to be very sharp. However I did not like these knives for the following reasons

1) I dont care much for the cheap plastic-like orange handles

2) The finish on the knives appear to be cheap. Furi implies that these knives are made in Germany. However they are cheaply "Made in China". Now generally I dont care that much .. everything is now made in China anyways.. But when I am paying so much money for a product, I was hoping it was made in Germany or USA.

3) The case is even more cheaply made.

Personally, I would wait for a sale on the Global or the Wustof knives.
