How can I count the ways that I love The Rachel Zoe Project? Bravo's reality show centering around LA fashion stylist (and now designer) Rachel Zoe and her "team" -hubby Rodger Berman, alpha- female assistant Taylor Jacobsen, and newcomer to her brand Brad Goreski lets us see a fashion-drenched, drama-laced, and intense view of behind-the-scenes machinations in LA's fashion world. This premiere disc set features six episodes, including a celebration of New York Fashion Week, deadlines and pressure in "Fashion, the Cruel Mistress," and Holllywood's award season with the final episode "Shut It Down at The Oscars!" You'll ride a roller coaster of fashion with the driven, intense, and passionate Rachel Zoe outshining the most spectacular gown with her commitment to excellence and perfection. Brad and Taylor provide a key counterpoint to Rachel's diva moments with their reactions and interactions while they respond to the demands of the job. A reality show that seems less scripted than many (especially in its first season), and genuine moments of humor, tribulation and exultation, along with a camera-ready view of the hustling that happens behind the scenes to make those glamourous close-ups happen. I die!

I never caught this show when it was on TV so I picked up the first season to try it. To be fair, being a stylist to the stars probably means you live in a bit of an alternate universe. But Rachel and her strange little crew are so far outside the realm of "normal" to me I feel I am watching aliens. And that, of course, is part of the appeal. As I watch them scrambling around hours before the Oscars, trying to find thongs and nipple covers, I can't help but think there is as much drama created by their own doing as the stars they work with. Rachel's two assistants are constantly at each other's throats and she tends to encourage this by placating and babying the one who is throwing the loudest, most dramatic hissy fit at the time. Truly I cannot imagine running a successful business this way. But this impending train wreck is still fun to watch, if only in small bites. Rachel really does have great taste and I came away from Season 1 with a new appreciation of all the things--the dress, make-up hair, jewelry, shoes--that have to be just so to create that perfect look on the runway.

Rachel's celebrity-studded interviews & shopping excursions make it a must-own; although I liked Season 2 better, I'm glad I bought Season 1

This show is really quite entertaining. I am not the sort to go in for mindless, reality television. However, watching Rachel Zoe in action allowed me to see how a person goes about becoming a success. I actually took notes during every episode. I heard what Rachel said throughout this season, about where she wanted to take her brand over the next few years. Looking at her now, I see that she accomplished all of her objectives. My goals are not oriented in the fashion industry, but her attitude is one that is teaching me so much about how to think about and to achieve success in what I do desire to accomplish.
