I purchased this CD primarily for Trac#2--Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini-18th Variation. I wasn't disapointed! The whole cd is very relaxing and definitly puts you in the mood. I thought the cd would contain only piano music but there are many well-orchestrated and dramatic tracs.

This album contains some of Rachmaninoff's most beautiful and romantic music which should appeal to everyone, even if you're not a classical music fan. The performances are first rate and you may even shed a few tears listening to this very emotional music. These excerpts from some of Rachmaninoff's major works may induce you to want the entire compositions for your collection.

I'll add my applause to these reviews. It's an elegant collection of Rachmaninov pieces. Simply beautiful.

If you are a Rachmaninov fan, this CD is a must. Of all the CD's I have of Rachmaninov, this is my favorite. The orchestra's that perform capture the essence of what he composed. It is a beautiful CD guaranteed to please. As the back of the CD states, "Rachmaninov and romance go together like Romeo and Juliet"

This is a fine sampling of Rachmaninoff. I have purchased a number of discs from this series and find them to be very useful as an introductory tool, a learning tool and for pure entertainment of a worthwhile level.
By all means use this sampler as a primer and follow by acquiring great performances of the whole second symphony and piano concerto, the complete preludes. There is so much great music to learn and love. Phillips has done a service by making available and accessible this venue for great music. (Brahms at Bedtime is a ravishing sampling of a complex composer).

Find your loved one, get some tissue and escape into a world of desire and fantasy. All ages will love this music. Tender, soft, and relaxing with the hint of being alive again.

I have been ordering many of my old favorites of Classical Music.
I love Rachmaninoff. Rich full beautiful songs that I have missed for several
years. Since I sold my whole LP album collection,.. I long to hear some of my old favorites. This Album should be in your collection if you love Rachmaninoff.
It is a wonderful clear copy on C.D!

The only thing that I would suggest to help a person find the right song with the correct passages in it,.is if there was a way to hear it all the way through,(on samples), to be sure that the classical piece that you are picking is, in fact,.. the one that you want.
Some classical titles are written in another language, and I don't always know if that is the one that I want. Only when I hear all the music and the familiar passages, I am sure. The current samples give you a taste of what all you might hear, but not so in classical music.,.which changes melodies, dynamics and tempo's all within the same piece. Otherwise,. excellent.

I CANCELLED ONE OF THE TWO COPIES OF THE CD. I RECEIVED A REFUND FOR ONE OF THE ITEMS, BUT NEVER RECEIVED THE OTHER CD, AND GOT NO RESPONSE FROM THE SELLER.
