Inspired by the Saturday All-Night Vigil celebrated in the Russian Orthodox Church, Rachmaninov’s setting is remarkable for its melodic invention, choral virtuosity and Slavic intensity. This performance features Finland's only full-time professional choir, the Finnish National Opera Chorus, which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2005.
