Had great hopes but is okay
on February 4, 2013
Tried it for the first time in our minivan that was relatively clean but had some spills here and there. Being an environmentally friendly product, I had great hopes for this. I pre-treated the carpet with the Host Pre-Clean Carpet Cleaner, followed the directions (used a brush in circular motion to spread the powder into the carpet), waited for about an hour, then vacuumed. While the carpet came out somewhat clean. It did not clean thoroughly. Yes I did not use the spot remover (which brings up another issue with the Mfr. - see below) so I don't hold the Host powder responsible for not completely getting rid of the spots but the overall cleaning was so so. I am trying to use the spot remover for the second round...
Product availability / distribution:
It would behove the company to ask why their product / add-ons are not so easy to get! According to the company website, in my locality, there's only two shops that carry the items (officially anyway), one of them has moved so I can't locate. The other one does not carry all the items. I go to Amazon to find the spot remover : processing takes additional 3-4 days (in contrast to Amazon's speedy availability and Prime shipping) - that's from an Amazon affiliate but shipped by Amazon. Amazon itself is out of stock. Another merchant ships only standard - 3-5 days, yet another charges $20+ for expedited shipping! - While I don't think Racine is responsible for all this, the company should look into its distribution policies and make it VERY convenient for its customers to obtain the product and accessories at least at Amazon? Finally, today I see a merchant at Amazon who ships the product expedited at a reasonable price. So I'll give it a try but the whole experience has left me not too excited about the product, it's effectiveness and ease of availability of product / add-ons. I might try Capture if this does not work.
