Spectacular CD,

Put this CD in your player, turn the volume all the way up and get ready to rock. This CD has a very "bluesey" rock sound that makes you want to sing along. Not a bad song on the entire CD.

My absolutely favorite CD,

I have an extensive and varied CD collection, but if my house was burning and I could only save 2 discs, this is the first one I would get out of the house. The second would be Brother by Cry of Love. Sass is one of the best female rockers of all time, and this is definitely her best work. I've had this CD for about 10 years now. I can STILL put it in the car and listen to it for a week straight!!

A Woman Who Really Rocks!!,

30 seconds into this CD I knew I was hearing the female companion to "Shake Your Moneymaker" by the Black Crowes. If you love that album, you'll love this, because the songs are much in the same vein - straight up bluesy rock 'n' roll. Sass has Joplinesque vocals, but mainly sounds more like Melissa Etheridge. I love the fact that she's a female rocker who doesn't have to announce to the world what she is. She just gets out there and rocks. That, to me, is the ultimate expression of Girl Power. The lyrics aren't specifically written from a female perspective either - which is actually a refreshing change and what I think makes the album very accessible to a wide range of people. Sass Jordan and others like her need much more exposure! She is one of my favorite singers and I'm going to buy the rest of her albums ASAP! Any rock fan should have Racine in their collection and play it loud and often.

My sister, who lives in upstate New York, had a chance to meet this beautiful lady who just had her first child. My sister said to me; "Sass is 5 feet tall and 100 pounds soaking wet - but she sings like nobody you've ever seen!" Coming from my sister, who is no slouch with a guitar and her voice, I thought I'd give her a listen. She told me that this CD would not let me down and she was right. I haven't heard anything else by Sass but it's probably all good. For me, this is the only female rock / blues rock CD that I like more than Shannon Curfman's...and I think that Shannon is ALMOST as good as Sass. I'll be playing this CD for a very, very long time to come.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sass Jordan at a meet and greet after she opened for the Arc Angels in 1992 at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit. The lady is just as down home and cool as her music. Racine is one of her finest pieces of work, without a doubt. If ever you have a chance to see the lady live, treat yourself to an unforgettable rockin' time. Sass is a female version of early Rod Stewart and Paul Rodgers rolled into one (and yes...those rock icons are among her influences). Sass is what all women who want to rock should aspire to. She sings with raw emotion, heart and soul. These whiny little wannabe female rockers of the new millineum should all be required to listen to the likes of Sass Jordan and early Heart cd's. That's the kind of heart and soul all female rockers should aspire to.

I bought this tape at a clearance sale. And what a wonderful surprise this album turned out to be!! Excellent songs -- not any "filler" -- and a powerful, beautiful voice. I'm definitely going to check out her other recordings. This one is worth buying; Sass Jordan is truly an undiscovered treasure.

"Racine" is, by far, one of the best CD's available. If you have not heard Sass (now "Sas") you are missing out on one of the best female vocalist's available. I have many friends that had not heard of Sass Jordan, but once I let them listen, they are hooked. Give her a chance, if you do not like what you hear the first time, listen again... really listen... and you will hear someone put to words and music their very soul. If you like Bonnie Rait, Mellissa Etheridge, Allanis Morrisett, and Sheryl Crow, but think that some of their music could use some edge and soul, Sass is for you. Her releases, in order, are "Tell Somebody" (import), "Racine", "Rats", "Present" (import), and "Hot Gossip"(import). If you are not familiar with Sass, best bet is "Racine" for softer edge, or "Rats" for hard rock, in your face vocals and guitar licks. Look for the "Imports" like "Present" for a softer Sass also. This is the only single artist who has compelled me enough to buy every release she has done. Sass cover's all the base's with skill and attitude.. soul, rock, adult contemporary, blues, she is truly that diverse. If you do not believe what you read, you can find MP3's and short music clips on the web..... find out about the best kept secret from our neighbors from the north. |
