GREAT!,

This review is from: Racing Image (Thoroughbred Series #46) (Paperback)
I've always liked the Thoroughbred series and have been reading it from the beginning. However, some of the more recent books lacked the spirit that really made you give a care whether the horse pulled through or not. The reason you ran to the bookstore as soon as you finished the book, hoping the next one would be there. But the books about Melanie & Image really brought it back, and they are more like Asleigh & Wonder than Christina & Star are. Christina often seems kinda fake to me, and Melanie brings a sense of realism to the books-a girl who's NOT perfect(but trying)This book is one of the best and it deserves every star!

I thought this book was all right. Just one thing... Lately, the books have been going from Christina to Melanie and back again. But they each completely ignore the other character. Like when it's Melanie's book, Christina is barely mentioned. It doesn't even say if Star really got better after being in Montana. I just wish the books could be on both girls at once. I really like Image, though. It's nice to read about a horse who's not completely perfect! Oh, and at the end of Racing Image, it jumps from after Thanksgiving to New Years. That means that Christmas passed, making Christina now 17. Hmm.

Eh ... lacks something,

To be honest, I've always felt that the new generation books seem to lack something ... realistic perhaps? Reality is the whole reason why I started reading the books, the way Joanna Campbell wrote was realistic ... the characters had depth, they had feeling, they didn't always win, but they worked hard to get where they were. And all of a sudden, in the series is lacking in reality. How can they expect to send Image to the Triple Crown if she's only *just* started racing as a three-year old and by the end of the book has won a race. If you ask me, if one was thinking to enter a horse in a series of races where eligablity was based on lifetime winnings (in the case of the Preakness) or graded stakes winnings (in the case of the Derby) one can't just say they're going to enter a horse in the Triple Crown and expect that it will happen. That's where the reality leaves off, and why I like Joanna's books far better than the new generation ones, however the case may be. Sure, the writing is great, but there's a spark that's missing, in my mind, that the original series definately had.

okay, i have read these books from the begining, i own everyone of them up to #49 and #50 just came out. this series has went down hill, and it's not just because i started it in 5th grade and now i'm a junior in high school. i have reread the series from the begining, and i still love the books all the way until dylan's choice. granted it's still one of my favorite series, but alot of things have changed. like since when did townsend acres change their colors from green and gold to black and red? what happened to max (of whom cindy was in love with!!)? where is ashleigh's family? and what about the great horses like, Glory, Champion, Mr. Wonderful, Princess, Fleet Goddess, Precious, and Honor Bright?? heck what is up with Star even being born, in Horse of Her Dreams, Wonder's Legacy was the horse Chris gave to get Sterling, and he was supposed to be the last foal Wonder was capable of having! oh and that reminds me, what the hey is up with changing Wonder's Pride's name to Townsend Pride, that is the biggest insult to the books!!! and what happened to Trib? ya know, the little pony that Melanie owned, and where is Dylan, did he suddenly go star trek and say 'beam me up scotty'?????

The Best!,

This book was soooo good! I've been reading the Thoroughbred books since the beginning and there hasn't been one this good since Wonder's Champion. This book brought back the old spirit that some of the recent books haven't had. Its so wonderful to read about people and horses who aren't perfect. Its so nice that Christina and Melanie actually have control of there own horses now. This book is the kind that leaves you feeling content and happy after you finish it!

The best book out of the whole series !,

Racing Image in my opinion is the best book out of the whole series. I really hope that Melanie and Jazz get a relationship going, I mean it seems like Jazz already likes Mel and I think they would make the cutest couple ! This book was so life like I mean it seems how it would actually be on the racetrack and if I were in melanies position. I would definettly recommend this book. It is for littler kids I must admit but I still read the series and i love it!

FANTASTIC BOOK!I LOVE IT!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Racing Image (Thoroughbred Series #46) (Paperback)
This book was absolutly awesome! I would reccomend it to anyone. When Fredricka says that she is having money problems and has to sell horses,Melanie panicks. She says that unless the money comes, she has to sell Image. They enter Image in a race. She spooks and gets first but also gets disqualified.Fredricka says she can't keep Image but Melanie knows that this special filly can win.Fredricka explains that she can no longer keep Image and she might have to sell him to Brad Townsend.Meanwhile,Fredrickas place is turning into a very messy and smelly place and most of her workers have quit. Then Melanie's Dad tells her that she can keep Image since her father's company wanted to make an investment. Then her father announces that a popular rock star has half ownership,Melanie freaks. Then her father explains and everything turns out fine.In the next race,Image wins. This book was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone of any age.

Racing Image was a great book. I've always liked Melanie the best out of all the thoroughbred characters. She trains and races Image and when everything looks like it's fallen apart everything comes back together again. There's also little blurbs about Star and Christina which will eventually lead up to another book about Christina but the next two books are about Cindy. Cindy's Desert Adventure and Cindy's Bold Start I think. So for all the people who were missing her (not me she's kind of a jerk) she's coming back. This is a great book I'm sure anyone who likes horse racing will enyoy this book thoroughly.P.S HORSES RULE!

Racing Image, Joanna Campbell and Alice Leonhardt,
By A Customer
This review is from: Racing Image (Thoroughbred Series #46) (Paperback)
I think this book was great! I waited and waited for it to come out and read it happily when I finally got it. I love how Chris and Melanie are finally getting FULL control of their horses. I kinda wish that Wonders offspring would be left alone because it seems like almost all of them have had SOMETHING happen to them. However, I'm not writing the series, so I leave that to Joanna Campbell and Alice Leonhardt. I'm glad that Brad has gotten his hands off of Star and Image. I hope that in future books Star is bred to Image, because that would make awesome foals. I also think that when Star is retired from Racing, Chris should train him to do some jumping. Melanie and Jazz should be boyfriend/girlfriend too. But thats just my opinion.
