Product Description

When you compete in an Ironman Triathlon, one of the toughest endurance events on the planet, you should expect the unexpected, and you'll get it.

Better be prepared: sun or rain, lightning or wind, freezing temperatures or searing heat, smooth sailing or equipment breakdowns, bonking on the bike or racing with a smile to the end.

This book takes the reader deep into the heart of the Ironman racing experience, and tells exactly what it's like to race from start to finish, through just about any situation, to achieve the triathlete's ultimate goal: to become an Ironman.

This book delivers the experience in race reports from 22 Ironman races -- in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, Canada, and Florida, Lake Placid, Wisconsin and Kona -- completed over a 10-year period.

What can you expect in your Ironman Triathlon experience? The answer is here.

Excellent, I couldn't put it down. Know the way that Hawaii Ironman on TV just makes you want to do an Ironman? This book does it in overdrive. It'll make you want to do one more than ever. Tremendously inspiring.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is Real Ironman Triathlon. Recommended!, May 26, 2010

If you want to know what it's like to race an Ironman Triathlon, start with this book. It takes you right into the racing experience, as if you were there.

And by 'there', I mean at Ironman races in Canada, Lake Placid, Wisconsin, Florida, New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany and Kona. Britt's raced in 29 Ironman triathlons all over the world, and the stories behind his best and his most challenging races make up this book.

From the rookie's experience to the stage where qualifying for Kona is just within reach. Then winning that Kona slot and racing in Kona. From racing in cold, windy and rainy conditions in Germany, Switzerland and Canada to baking in the heat of Wisconsin and Kona. From down and out to elation at the finish line. All here.

There's no other book out there like this one. This what you want, if you're a triathlete considering an Ironman. Or even if you want to know how to get better. You want this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must-have if you plan to race Ironman, May 21, 2010

The guy's done 29 Ironman races. Averaging less than 8 hours per week training, for most of them. Amazing.

This one is the real deal, the journey of a triathlete who, like most of us, started out with basic expectations to just start and finish. From there, Britt takes you to different Ironman courses, to better performances, and ultimately, when he decided to double down, on the intense march to Kona.

I wish I had this book as I prepared for my first Ironman. But I'm really glad to have it as I'm getting ready for the dreaded Ironman Lake Placid in July. Really nice to have 'already raced it' vicariously through the author's narrative.

A worthy addition to the triathlete's bookshelf that includes titles by Friel, Bryn and Fitzgerald. Because this one speaks from the heart, directly to the triathlete in a unique way.
