5.0 out of 5 stars Don't race Ironman Wisconsin without it, May 26, 2010
By
Triathlon 4 Life (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
I just bought a charity spot: I'm now going to race Ironman Wisconsin AND Ironman Lake Placid.

I was already signed up to do LP this year, and got Britt's other book 'Ironman Lake Placid: Racing Strategies and Tips'. It was excellent.

I noticed Britt had raced Wisconsin after LP several times, and it got me thinking. So I bought this book, and now I'm completely hooked. I can't wait to race in Wisconsin this September.

If anything, this book is even better than the first. This one has all the race details, course overview and photos, Britt's race reports and strategies, training and racing tips and more.

Plus, Britt goes into detail on the bike course that I've never seen elsewhere. Mile-by-mile splits and gps data for the whole bike course, from his actual race in 2007. It's all there: more than I ever thought I could know about the bike course without actually being there.

I can't imagine racing Ironman Wisconsin without reading this first. If you ask me, I say: buy this book. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my race from potential disaster; Ironman here I come, May 21, 2010
I've got a strong running background, but this year I'm taking on the Ironman, in Wisconsin in September. I had to sign up last September without any idea what I was getting myself into.

Training's going well, but I was getting really worried about whether I could finish the race. I was hearing scary things about the bike course, making things seem worse.

Racing Ironman Wisconsin made me feel a lot better, though it still is very clear; the course is a challenge. The big difference between finishing and not is how you deal with the course, mental and physical preparation, details and more.

That's what this book is all about: racing the course, dealing with challenges, specific ones, advice and tips, and particular attention to the bike course. It features Britt's detailed bike splits, mile by mile, for his 2007 5:54 ride. Going deep into the race like this is a good example of how Britt delivers throughout this book.

I was thinking about dropping out before I got this book. Not any more. It may have saved my race and my chance to become an Ironman. Everything I needed to know . . . Definitely.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who needs surprises during and Ironman..., September 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
...not me! This book helped me to visualize and prepare for Ironman Wisconsin, my first IM race. Had I not read this book, I would have had to deal with the added stress of not knowing what the course would be like. A great book and a great idea.
