Racing Wheel for Nintendo Wii

The biggest problem with this is that there is no hole for the Wiimote's strap to come out of the bottom - so you have to remove it to put the Wiimote into this wheel. If you don't - and try to force the Wiimote into it, you'll likely rub off some of the rubber padding on the inside of the Wiimote slot.

Also it's not very comfortable - at least of my hands. It seems like they made it upside down - like the open end should be the bottom, since that's where your hands really are so you can use the buttons on the Wiimote.

Overall, it's OK... but just that: "OK." I'd keep shopping if I were you.

When I first saw an ad for this product I thought it would be a standalone controller, complete with its own wireless, motion sensor, and need for batteries. All of this, of course, would make it very expensive, so I wondered why anyone would even think this is worth it. But thankfully, it is just an attachment for your regular Wii remote, making it only ten bucks new! It works great, and was easy to get used to, even if it doesn't really let me hold it the way I hold an actual steering wheel. I was never any good at the racing mini-games on my Warioware and Mario Party games (I don't actually own any racing games) because I found it really annoying to hold the remote in the driving configuration ("The Chauffeur" position in Warioware). Although it's inconvenient to use and switch around for mini-games, it definitely helped, and at 10 dollars it still felt worth it. If you play a lot of motion sensing racing games, I'd say that this is undoubtedly worth it, since it erases the awkwardness and inconvenience of holding the Wii remote by the edges.


EDIT: I now see that the price has gone up and the product is no longer available directly from amazon. This changes my opinion of this product quite a bit. For 10 bucks it was quite a bargain. I don't know if I would pay 25+ dollars for this add-on. People thinking of buying a racing wheel for Wii might want to wait for the official one that's coming out with the next Mario Kart game. Anyway, it's up to you.

If you've played any of the WII racing games you'll know they are very sensitive to movement. A steering wheel with a base would have been a better choice.

Sure it may just be psychological but I do find it easier to race with one of these in my hands.

It really does make it easier to hold the remote and the price is ok.

I would recommend it for anyone that has any racing games!

I bought this as a second steering wheel for some Mario Kart fun. It looks good and works well with one minor flaw, and that is that the Wiimote must be pulled out of the wheel to navigate the menus. It does not have the small window that the Official Nintend wheel has. If you just use it for the second controller, though, then it is not an inconvenience.

Our family received one of this for Christmas. It seemed like a good combination of fit and function. However, when the wii remote was inserted in the carrier, one of the foam strips inside the carrier stuck to the infrared window. It has been impossible to remove this adhesive, and now the wii remote no longer works correctly. The foam strips are placed in such a way that there is no possible way to put the remote in without having the foam rub up against (and therefore possibly stick to) the infrared window.

So even after this, if you still consider purchasing this item, be aware that you cannot use the remote to navigate any of the wii menus while it is inside the carrier. Based on the way the carrier is made, it would probably be only a matter of time before one of the foam strips broke off.

If you'll notice on the picture options, one is of a blue and white racing wheel without the stand, and the other is of what appears to be a one-piece white racing wheel attached to stand. The two pictures are of TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT PRODUCTS. I did not click to enlarge the second blue wheel pic when I bought this, so I thought both ad a stand attached. So what I was expecting is NOT what I received. I thought about not bothering with the return process, because it was only $8.00, but then I thought, this is false advertising, and it was the principle of the thing, and I should not have to pay for something that was not AT ALL what I wanted. The white stand pic is the one that is first shown to customers and I can't help but think it is on purpose. Shame on Amazon for letting this happen. They should've been more diligent. I hope this review helps others to realize the lie they are telling. If I could, I would give this a 0 star rating.

For whatever reason the Wii racing wheel made the driving games much easier, therefore much more enjoyable for my son. He had much better control once he began using it. Well worth the very little I paid for it.

I love this racing wheel it's good for anykind of racing game. I have Hot Wheels and it's really good. If you have a Wii and a racing game get this wheel.

This is a good product. It really helps while you are playing the game. It works well with preschool aged children.
