The Best Band You've Never Heard,
By "radpunker12" (Long Beach, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Racism, Religion & War (Audio CD)
River City Rebels are an emerging ska/punk band off of Victory Records, a label known for producing hardcore bands like Hatebreed, Snapcase, and Earth Crisis. But with River City Rebels, you have snotty British punk vocals mixed with high speed horns, making a really good band. This CD is another good one for skating. It is playful, yet at the same time political and very smart. It is fast paced and cheap and a good buy. If you have never heard of them, now is the time to check em' out before they blow up.The best songs are The System, Here Or To Go, and We Will Fight. This is rad and it is for fans of Catch 22, The Clash, Sex Pistols, NOFX, and Reel Big Fish.

Best Band in the World,
By A Customer
This review is from: Racism, Religion & War (Audio CD)
This is one of the best CD's I have ever heard in my life. If you like any sort of punk or ska, you will definatly like this. There is not a single bad track on this CD. I drive all over New England just to see these guys live. They put on the most amazing show I have ever seen. Somehow they managed to capture the energy on the CD. If you dont already own this masterpiece, go out and BUY IT!!!!

Good, not Great,
This review is from: Racism, Religion & War (Audio CD)
The River City Rebels are a great live band, but their albums leave much to be desired as for the money I'd like more than 20 minutes of music. But for what it is worth, Racism, Religion and War is great for how long it lasts. Every song is enjoyable, but very shallow. Only Hate really seems to pack in any insightful lyrics, but this band is more about anthems anyway. One thing this band ISN'T is the next Dead Kennedys. Lyrically they cannot touch Jello Biafra's masterful writing and delivery, and frankly I doubt they ever will. But they are still a very good band and this CD is worth the money but not the punk rock classic people would like to believe it is. A band like Worthless United (Formerly just Worthless) who toured with the Rebels last year are much closer to what you would look for in a "new Dead Kennedys" and are well worth checking out if you can find their CDs.

Rebels With a Cause,

There is not much I can say about this band, except I am debating wheather I like them better than Rancid. And if you know me, I am pretty much obsessed with Rancid. In other words, it rocks my world.

Good luck finding a bad track!,

Quite possibly the best band out there today. I can not begin to describe how awesome this song is! It is some of the fastest punk rock ever! It takes punk back to it's roots, away from all the pansy OC pop-punk and back to the good old days of The Clash and the Ramones. These guys are tied with Dillinger 4 for my all time favorite band. I can not stop listening to this CD, I put it on then I can't stop it! They have the best sing-along songs and just get you in the mood to dance your ass off! I saw them live at me high school and they got kicked off because they used the "f-word" too much, still, the guys in the band were some of the coolest around, they went around and talked with all of us. I can't tell you how great they are, just get this CD, if you like any old school punk, Rancid, Against all Authority, DKM or D4, definately look at these guys.
